I think Libertad is the best work he's done post GnR even if you can't hear all of it without good headphones.  I like Contraband and can get through that whole album no problem.  Slash I is okay and has some highlights.  I can't get through anything on this album (though the chorus on YAL is catchy, the rest of the song is just blah).  It's just my opinion.  Just because it's not the same as yours doesn't mean it's wrong.

I really think Myles is the issue.  I don't like either of his songs on Slash I.  I don't know what it is, but his voice just kills me.

Then we have different music taste. I think Libertad is his worst work ever, even with the best headphones on Earth. Contraband is a close second. I can't stand Scott's voice in most cases. I like Myles, his singing and even his guitar work, which I find far superior to Dave Kushner's. I think that the Myles songs are among the bests on Slash I.

I've never said that your opinion was wrong, but I still don't understand how such a shining Slash album can be boring for a *music focused* Slash fan. Maybe Myles is the answer, since you hate his style. I think he's very good, although not the young Axl's league, obviously.

Maybe it's not such a shining Slash album.  Maybe Myles is THAT bad.  I don't know.

I've grown to really like it. It needs time to settle in. Use it in the gym for a month and see where you end up. That's what did it for me.

I really don't know what you guys are listening to. Was it Slash II or Slash I?

This album rocks.

This album is full of energy.

This album is full of life.

I could be wrong, but I think they were both saying CD was making them sleepy.

Faldor? I doubt that.

I didn't wanna make it an AL vs. CD battle, and I still try not to so... I think it'd have been a legal argument to say that Slash I was boring. Not for me, since I found a lot of interesting things there, but that album had no flow. This has an amazing flow, except the rubbish Hard & Fast or what its title is, and the two bonus songs. I can't stop listening it and I always listen the whole album (well, except H&F), cause it's so good as it is.

Before anyone comes in with the Slashite badge, I wanna make it clear that I had a hard time with listening through Contraband, Libertad and Slash I from the first song till the last. Those albums had too many fillers. This record has really strong tracks. Even Halo and One Last Thrill became loved songs for me, although I didn't really like them first. Damn strong album. After more than a decade, Slash is really back.

This wouldn't be the first documented case where some people like an album more than others.  I loved Contraband back in the day, though listening to it nowadays I don't think it holds up on a whole as well as it once did.  Libertad I never got into the entire album, but about half of it was solid.  Slash I, I'd say I liked a little more than half.  AL hasn't reached those heights yet and I'm not sure it ever will.  I love Standing In The Sun and Anastasia.  I'd put You're A Lie, Not For Me, and One Last Thrill on the like list.  There are parts of Halo, Bad Rain, and others that I enjoy so those may continue to grow on me.  There was one song I absolutely despised.  It may have been Hard and Fast, but I forget.

VR and Slash solo are really very different experiences and I like them all in their own way.

Contraband has the Duff/Matt/Slash chemistry going...and in the right moments it's pretty awesome (Slither Solo...the intro to Big Machine, Sucker Train Blues etc), however it was stylistically less of a "classic rock" than other Slash involved works.

Libertad is also an interesting mix...Slash actually plays more solos on this one...but the songs overall are far more scott appeasing...making for a strange situation where the album overall seems lacking but then specific parts of it are seriously badass.

VR as a group never yet made what could be their best album IMO.

The Slash solo records feature Slash in a hybrid of his GNR and Snakepit modes....so they are stylistically very different from VR.

Personally I enjoy them very very much.

To me a song like "By The Sword" is something that guitar wise is a modern version of a GNR Lies type track. And a song like "Anastasia" is a modern version of a UYI style song like "Double Talking Jive".

To me they are the evolution of Slash - doing what he's always done - but with better playing than in his youth. Sure they could use Axl...but we don't live in a perfect world....and the guitar parts are so strong that the songs are very enjoyable anyway.
