I had a 2 hour drive home yesterday so I popped the CD in.  It nearly put me to sleep.  In fairness, I was quite tired to begin with.  But after it finished I put in the new Van Halen and I was wide awake.  Suffice to say, Apocalyptic Love has not grown on me yet.  I like a few songs, and there are parts of some songs that I like.  Others I could do without.  I'm not writing it off yet, as I have really only listened to it 3 times or so.  But that's where I'm at.

On the positive side, I have turned around on "You're A Lie".  I used to not like that song much at all, but I've warmed up to it.  So maybe the album as a whole will just take a few repeat listens to have a similar effect.  Either that or I'll die from falling asleep at the wheel. 18

I think almost anyhing can be said about this album being except sleepy. One of the most energetic, alive and best albums of the past years.

It did the same thing for me.  Granted I was on a long drive too, but it certainly didn't energize me.

I really don't know what you guys are listening to. Was it Slash II or Slash I?

This album rocks.

This album is full of energy.

This album is full of life.

I could be wrong, but I think they were both saying CD was making them sleepy.

I was talking about Slash II.  After a while I was tuning it out.  Boring and repetitive is how it came off to me.  Trust me, I want to like it, but I can't even bring myself to give it another listen.

I feel the same. I'm trying. I hear all these positive reviews, so it must be good. I just don't hear it yet. Usually when I get a new CD I will listen to it exclusively for weeks on end. Like Buzz, I listened once and didn't have a strong urge to listen again. I dipped into my back catalog and listened to the first Slash, Sixx AM, Kid Rock, Van Halen, etc. When I do listen to the album I feel it's forced, it isn't like I'm excited about it. It took me some time to warm up to Slash I, so there's still hope. I'm not throwing in the towel just yet.

Faldor? I doubt that.

I didn't wanna make it an AL vs. CD battle, and I still try not to so... I think it'd have been a legal argument to say that Slash I was boring. Not for me, since I found a lot of interesting things there, but that album had no flow. This has an amazing flow, except the rubbish Hard & Fast or what its title is, and the two bonus songs. I can't stop listening it and I always listen the whole album (well, except H&F), cause it's so good as it is.

Before anyone comes in with the Slashite badge, I wanna make it clear that I had a hard time with listening through Contraband, Libertad and Slash I from the first song till the last. Those albums had too many fillers. This record has really strong tracks. Even Halo and One Last Thrill became loved songs for me, although I didn't really like them first. Damn strong album. After more than a decade, Slash is really back.

I think Libertad is the best work he's done post GnR even if you can't hear all of it without good headphones.  I like Contraband and can get through that whole album no problem.  Slash I is okay and has some highlights.  I can't get through anything on this album (though the chorus on YAL is catchy, the rest of the song is just blah).  It's just my opinion.  Just because it's not the same as yours doesn't mean it's wrong.

I really think Myles is the issue.  I don't like either of his songs on Slash I.  I don't know what it is, but his voice just kills me.
