Re: Slash/Hollywood Walk of Fame (Slash speaks after)
Slash
Slash is receiving a Star on the Walk of Fame on July 10 & doing an exclusive acoustic performance at @HRCHollywood afterwards. There are 2 ways to get into the event: listen to @KLOS or be one of the first 200 fans in line @ 9:00am http://bit.ly/MYrTAw #slashnews
Re: Slash/Hollywood Walk of Fame (Slash speaks after)
I actually was semi-involved with an organization that got a star on the Walk of Fame for a late actor.
And after knowing the in's and out's of how it's done over the years....
You are pretty much PAYING to have the star, as long as you have a background in entertainment.
So the people arguing the semantics over it, are wasting their breath. The Walk of Fame is a tourist attraction, and although it's can be "symbolic" for some, the bottom line anyone in the business could buy one. A board still has to approve it, but it's rare they deny anyone that has the $15,000 retainer (if I remember correctly).
I'm sure there's been tons of people denied. You've gotta be somebody to get one. yeah you may have to pay for it but they aren't gonna give it to any Tom, Dick and Harry who has a background in entertainment. Fred Savage could get one but the dude who played his friend Paul in Wonder Years isn't getting one. Slash could get one but the guitar player from Creed isn't getting one. You've gotta have some merrit to it. I walked the Walk of Fame and I recognized probably 98% of the names on it.
Re: Slash/Hollywood Walk of Fame (Slash speaks after)
If you think having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame makes you a sellout, then you're blatantly delusional. You'd have one too if it happened for you....
I don't think anyone was calling anyone a sellout, but I'd say there are much BIGGER names who don't have a STAR than some who are already there. I don't have any examples, but I'd be willing to bet that's the case. It's not exactly a fool proof system, not that one exists in any illustrious club.

Axl Rose BASHING at
Walk of Fame InductionSlash just officially received his "star" on the Hollywood Walk of Fame ... in a ceremony complete with cocaine jokes and Axl Rose insults ... courtesy of Charlie Sheen.
Sheen was one of the speakers tapped to honor the Guns 'N Roses guitar legend ... and opened the ceremony by saying, "It's quite fitting that Slash is getting a star on the very street Axl Rose will one day be sleeping on."
He added, "This star is going to be stepped on more than the coke we did in the 80s."
The whole ceremony is pretty epic -- check out the video.
Congrats Slash.
Considering their lifestyles, I think Charlie will sleep next to Slash's star sooner than Axl.
