The crime to me is that we rate these things against each other.

You know like in 1991 you liked november rain AND coma and the comparison was against some crappy pop band or whatever.

and I'm still the same....

I like Anastasia and Catcher in the Rye....and I see them as similar compared to the shit I hear on the radio....

but these days we'd argue about Estranged vs YCBM and so on....

It's a shame.

i think under the circumstances its valid.

on Bon jovi forums we compare Jon's solo album to Richie's all the time and the consensus is Richie's is better.

just human nature

I still haven't had a chance to dive into the new album and fully immerse myself, so at this point it would rank near the bottom with Libertad for me.  CD, Contraband, then Slash.

In my opinion ...

Ain't Life Grand > Contraband > Apocalyptic Love > It's Five O'Clock Somewhere > SLASH > Libertad

I focus on only Slash's non-GN'R career:

1. It's Five O' Clock Somewhere
2. Apocalyptic Love
3. Aint Life Grand?
4. Slash
5. -    16  (Since the VR albums are so below quality wise, compared to the other records)
6. Contraband N' Libertad

Having trouble ranking slash albums against each other. I love them all..but then if I had to pick and choose it gets hard.

Eg...in general Libertad is not slash's strongest work...but then I do I love "Let it Roll" a lot...always gets me in the mood...it's a great opener on a slash playlist....

Likewise...Ain't Life Grand...to me isn't anywhere near as cool as his other stuff...cos the singing is sort of polarising....but then Serial Killer is amazing...and there's several other songs I like.

5'Oclock to me was the second comming of AFD. It was like AFD for rock. UYI for epics. Then FOC for straight up back to rock. So also love that album. Hard to be objective about it when those guitar riffs defined years for me. people say it's crap but I had a boot of slash playing Dime Store Rock in a small venue and he was going bat shit nuts bending the whole guitar on the dives...epic like old GNR style pre-pacemaker slash...there's so much great guitar on that record.

Contraband is weak in that it mostly doesnt have solos on par with say snakepit stuff...but then it's epic in that some of it's songs are killer in a new rock way...and when it does have a solo it's fucking tastey shit....Slither, Sucker Train Blues....can't deny the coolness!

Then 2010...Ghost...By The Sword...many many good songs on this album....

And now AL...with Anastasia that's in his top ever solos....

So I dunno how to rank them against each other. They're all amazing in their own ways really!

Slash only:
1. It's Five O' Clock Somewhere
2. Contraband
3. Apocalyptic Love
4. Aint Life Grand?
5. Slash
6. Libertad

Complete Slash discography:

1. AFD
2. IFOCS
3. UYI I
4. UYI II
5. Lies
6. Contraband
7. Apocalyptic Love
8. Ain't Life Grand
9. Slash
10. TSI
11. Libertad

CD would be right in between Slash & TSI
