And honestly in all this time when people have mentioend Fergie in this conversation if you've been so in the know about Lzzy Hale why have you never mentioned her? She's the fergie option on roids.

There was a Halestorm thread, 2 in fact, on here awhile back.  They just didn't last too long.  I first heard them YEARS ago though.  Thought maybe they were a one hit wonder but they've had a few since then.

Their 2 biggest hits, as far as I know.

I cannot for the fucking life of me understand Bono's logic of her being "unknown and what they need", but yet Corey Taylor and Myles are generic.

If anything, Lzzy is the MOST modern rock sellout-ish generic of the bunch.

When I made that comment of "her being unknown" -- I was being a smartass.

Halestorm has been around awhile and ARE KNOWN. As is Lzzy.

If she was THAT special, she would've made a bigger impact. She hasn't.

So yeah, I see Taylor as a better option. Myles... i'd take Lzzy over Myles. But i'm biased. Lzzy shits all over Myles -- i'll give her that. But then again i've heard GN'R tribute singers shit all over Myles.

Anyways, I like Lzzy. I've liked her for awhile. But I DON'T think she's right for Slash, and at the same time I DON'T think she's a right fit for the band she's already in.

They don't get any radio play here. Lzzy Hale is not a household name. If you think she is I don't know what to say.  And no the fact she hasn't made a bigger impact  isn't a knock on any of her ability. My god Nikki Minaj is a house hold name and she fucking blows. Being popular isn't the be all end all when it comes to someone being "THAT" special.  A somewhat unknown would be a benifit to Velvet Revolver. Not sure why some are of the mindset they need to be a popular person to be considerd  as the singer. I'd rather hear this chick sing than Taylor, Myles, Baz, Weiland etc etc but I guess she's not popular enough?

Oh and if she was "known" then there wouldn't be so many people on this board who are just hearing about her now. Just saying. It's not like she's Amy Lee famous dude.

Fuck all that shit about Fergie. How is it that this girl(Lizzy Hale) has never been mentioned in the discussion of a new VR singer at all and how is it possible I only heard of her and her band last night. Check this shit out. She starts singing at 1:45. Her range is nuts! This is LIVE. Unreal.

I think they should have gone with Baz too (or someone like Baz that can write a little better).  I get what they were trying to do (and I like VR a LOT), but lets face it: Slash isn't a modern rock guy.  He can do a lot of things well to fantastic, but he's a 70s/80s blues/rock guitarist and he always will be.  Why try to reinvent yourself?  Axl's having the same issues.  Be who you are and be the best at it.  Be proud; embrace it.

I refuse to believe that had VR gotten Baz that they couldn't have toured and played to the same sized crowds Axl's playing to if not larger.  Baz could have sang anything from the AFD/UYI well enough.  Anything they could've developed from there would have just been gravy.  Slash is essentially doing that now with a worse singer and band (not that they are bad).  Maybe he didn't want to embrace the nostolgia act then, but he certainly has now.  And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I'll say it right now: Baz/Slash/Duff/Matt/Dave would sound better on the GnR stuff than GnR does.

U think things would've went any better with Baz? He is as nuts as Axl and Scott without the writing talent

I think I was pretty clear with what I thought, and I like Scott and VR.

No disrespect intended, but I am as infatuated with Lzzy Hale as anyone right now.. and I truly think she is amazing.

I could totally see her with VR, if I honestly thought VR would ever reallyi function as a band again... Which I do not.  It's just been too long. Everyone seems to have moved on to their own shit... And they all seem perfectly happy on their own. To start that band again, it would almost HAVE to include Scott, or be called something else entirely.

The Corey Taylor thing was the last hope. The last gasp of potential excitement surrounding that band. The ball was dropped. Game over.

Say what you will about Mr. Taylor... He's a bit more than your run of the mill modern rock douche. He has a vocal range that isn't often utilized in either of his current bands... It's easy to lump him in with the meatheads, but he shifts effortlessly between a soulful, haunting croon to a murderous scream and back again frequently... Not to mention, his lyrics... A few aberrations aside, he is a brilliant lyricist, with a profound vocabulary.

I always liked Scott... But he is, and always has been a lucky second rate fucking poser.  He always seems to be trying a little too hard to be "alternative"... I mean just look... The fucking guy STARTED in a second gen grunge band. He has way more in common with those second rate cunts on modern rock radio than Corey.

If you don't believe my post, or if your opinion of the guy is based on your lack of respect for Slipknot and Stone Sour, I beg you to check out the guy doing some covers on YouTube and reconsider....

I think not hiring him was, indirectly, the death of VR... They just haven't scheduled a funeral yet....

Yeah, I've been saying for years that VR was WAY on the backburner.  The longer it goes, the less likely they are to ever reform.  It MAY happen one day.  But at this point, I think the odds of an original GNR reunion are just as likely.

I agree on this totally. Scott was wrong for VR, but not because Scott sucks, but because Scott didn't have the range as a singer or a writer to do what needed to be done with VR. Baz had the voice, but not the writing. What they needed, if Slash wanted to go the grunge meets sleaze rock direction, was Chris Cornell. That was the kind of writing and voice they needed.

But honestly, I wish Lzzy Hale was the Mrs. Axlin. I'd be proud to have a chick that belts out rock like that man. She rules. But with her abilities -- i'd still say Corey Taylor deserves the job if they were to ever revive VR, which I don't think they will, and haven't for a couple years.

Lzzy Hale is bigger than Halestorm imo. I know i'm repeating myself at this point, but I can't stress that enough.
