I like scott too...but there was always a divide between the lyrics and the music on those records...different forces pulling in different directions.
To me chemestry of VR is in the instrumental parts....like that opening chug of Matt and Duff on Big Machine (before it turns into a bland repeat fest I know)...or that part in Slither where the solo kicks in.....it's not that I don't like a lot of the songs...I'm a huge fan of VR...but just tyring to make scott work with Slash's style was like a peg and a round hole or something..didn't go.

I think Apocolyptic Love proves Myles should NOT be the singer in VR. There's no grit, no balls, no anything to him. His voice is bland.
As for Lzzy I think her vocal range wold push the guys in VR to do some down right nasty shit. Weiland held them back so much and if Myles were the singer we'd get nice riffs and good solos with soft rock vocals. Boring.

I hear ya on the balls Bono...but to me myles is a step in the right direction over scott cos at least he can hit some pasionate high notes cos he has the range. Sadly he didn't do a lot of it on AL but sometimes in Alterbridge he does.
I'd love the return of someone with some rasp though...that's why Baz would have been interesting...though it would be very skid row like cos his voice is so distinctive....corey has some anger but his clean voice is very bland....

I actually still think Baz would be good for VR.
I really like Myles voice on a few songs on Slash's new album he fits them well. But it's a case of all or nothing, he either sounds great or terrible and not much in between.
I hear how others find him whiney too, he seems to sing from his head not his stomach. A lot of the songs definitely need a ballsier, gravelly sort of voice at times, just to mix it up. Unfortunately it just doesn't seem like Myles has the range.
I can see why Slash likes him, he is able to do a serviceable job on Slash's varied back catalogue enabling him to play a lot of tunes that he obviously wants to but couldn't in the past with say Scott or other singers. Sadly long term I don't believe he is the answer for Slash.

I've been aware of Lzzy for awhile. I always thought she was talented and, pretty hot for a rocker chick-level.
She did a duet with Brent Smith of Shinedown on "Breaking Inside" I think it was, and sounded pretty good.
Halestorm unfortunately though can be kinda suck ass at times. Very much apart of that emo-melodic rock scene.
Lzzy seems to be a cool chick though. Real deal. I like her alot, always have. For VR... I still would rather have Corey Taylor. I agree with Monkey that chicks with big ranges is just not near as impressive as it is with guys, but she'd probably slap me in the face for saying that, so whatever.

who cares if a female vocalists range is as imprssive as a male vocalist's or not. Does it sound good? Yes. That's all that matters. She'd set VR apart give them a distinct, Cory Taylor would make them sound like all the other modern rock acts out there. No idea what the appeal is about that guy. I think he'd suck with VR

Meh, still don't like her. The disrespect Scott gets is so fucking insulting still.
all Scott did was front a band whose debut album sold 2 million in the US, won a grammy and had 2 number 1 hits.
people act like just anybody can accomplish that type of commercial success. not to mention he is cool and mysterious as fuck.

Dude Halestorm has been around for awhile and Lzzy's so talented, most still have no clue who she is.
I know you're all excited n' stuff because you just discovered Halestorm (jeezus), but don't oversell this.

Because with singers like Lzzy, Slash knows it will pigeon hole him into the hair metal scene. Lzzy's got big vocals for throwback sunset strip rock. NOT mainstream VR.
And D, Scott Weiland sucked because he was all wrong for Slash. Not because Scott Weiland sucks. Just fyi. If that's what Slash wanted, Slash should've BEGGED Chris Cornell to be his singer. That's what he needed if he wanted a grunge-version of Guns N' Roses.

Slash is selling singles with Myles who sonds lieka cheap 80's hairmetal singerknockoff. I think it's safe to assume hearing Baz with VR would be cool but he's Baz and it would be too Skid Row THAT is why they didn't get him. The appeal here is few people know who Lzzy is and her voice does rock. That's the appeal. It would sell based on the music and sound not the name. Kinda the way it should be. Halestorm doesn't sound like Hairmetal and it's clear this girl has more ability than to simply sing hairmetal material. To suggest that is way off base especially if you've been in the know for so long.
"overselling" it? Dude she has better pipes than Taylor, Weiland and Myles. It's not overselling if it's true. She has range and grit sooemthng misisng from all three of those guys mentioned. They may have one or the other but not both.
And honestly in all this time when people have mentioend Fergie in this conversation if you've been so in the know about Lzzy Hale why have you never mentioned her? She's the fergie option on roids.

It's not insulting and it's not dirsrespectful. I don't give a fuck how many singles or albums his name helped sell he was the absolute weak link of VR. Great showman, but he added very little in terms of vocals and lyrics to VR in my opinion. In fact I think he brought the whole thing down.
