I persoanlly don't like Myles voice. He's merely adequate at best. I love the music of You're a Lie when I hear it on radio in the car. I crank it up but Myles voice is so damn generic. To me he sounds liek a generic rock radio singer.  Also it sounds processed and very fake. Kinda like how I feel about Axl's voice on CD

I haven't botherd to buy the new album cause I don't like Myles voice and I don't believe I'd enjoy listening to the songs on a  regular basis. There's just no way I'd listen to the album  all the way through cause I'm annoyed or bored of Myles voice after one song.

I'm waiting for that guy 5agge to mashup Axl Rose vocals with Slash's new songs cause you know it's coming. Think Anastasia with Axl on Vocals.

What I don't understand is why does Myles choose to go into that nasally mode you guys are referring to? Let's take a song like Starlight. There's a little bit of nasally stuff during the chorus, but the rest of the song is sung in a very natural voice. It sounds fucking GREAT. Why the hell doesn't he sing like that all the time?

Because he's A) vocally scared, or B) vocally incapable.

It's that simple. If he was on American Idol they'd chastize him for it or send his ass home.

If he did it live i'd think it was a "protect mechanism" from damaging his vocals, but being he's now doing it more and more in the studio, either he's losing his original training, or he plays it safe because he doesn't feel comfortable with the other being too pitchy or changing keys.

He's getting worse, which is also not a good sign. The guy was vocally in his prime back around 2004-2008. Not now. The Myles on Alter Bridge's debut album is a totally different singer than today. He was decent then.

I think it's just Myles style and he's old enough to kind of make it his trademark.

I watched some of the Slash show on HD and the Bass player had an okay voice. I have no idea who he is. But that entire band didn't seem to be on Slash's level. And Myles voice just grates on me. But he does seem like a real good dude.

And you want to end a date on a bad note, put on some Rush and let those Geddy Lee vocals run wild. 16

I cannot fucking stand Geddy Lee.

I'll listen to Rush for the first 30 seconds or though until his voice kicks in. Tom Sawyer is the most bad ass 30 second rocker of all time. 9

Far and Away Myles sounds awesome. I think he does that nasal shit some cause Axl does it to and he may think people want to hear it. That yarl shit. Except Axl's yarl sounds badass. His doesn't.

One major reason Slash has chosen, and continues to work with Myles is that he is the star of the band and has total control. That and Myles is a good guy that doesn't cause any drama. So quality may be sacrificed for comfort in this partership.

Myles is a pure good dude that appears to have no ego and is probably a good friend.

One thing is not liking Myles, other is saying the whole post-GN'R Slash catalogue sucks (because of the singers or Slash's playing). I agree that Myles' nasal singin' is BAD. Maybe it does hurt the enjoyement for some. But last time i checked you were the music guy, who only cares about the instruments wink

i don't know what your point is meant to be here, but whatever the intention it appears a like smarmy & dumb.
you seem not to consider vocals as an instrument?! which is frankly astonishing.
when you consider putting vocals on something takes up like 50% of the sound, it's actually a p fuckin important tool for the music & if people can't get behind that then there's little hope for them or the music to get thru.

You're right, it's an instrument someway, but since it is not out-of-key, I don't see why it'd be that painful to hear. Finck was painful to listen, Weiland was painful to listen, but Myles is spot on. I don't get why it'd be unbearable for someone, even more if he's focusing mostly on the guitars. Myles isn't more disturbing than a not-so-great bass player. For me.

I still don't get this anti-Myles attitude here. The guy's nasal high voice is irritating sometimes, but writing off a whole album becase a few strange or bad things here and there is something I don't understand.

It's not nasaly sometimes, it's quite a bit of the time and in places on pretty much every song.  THAT is a good reason to write off a whole album.  It's not a few strange or bad things here or there.

At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter if you don't get it.  I do.  Myles is enough to ruin the experience for me.  Congratulations to you if he isn't.

On a guitar forum I am a member of, some love Myles, some say they don't like his style. Some HATE Axl's style and prefer myles over Axl. But all of them say even if they don't like Myles, it doesn't ruin the album because the tone and playing of Slash is so fucking good. They tolerate myles to hear slash dominate. Most prefer this album over Van Halen's because it has better songs. Roth can't sing at all anymore. And has stupid lyrics.
