I just want to add, some of the people who are yelling and pissed off, less than 24 hours ago, Axl showing up wasn't good enough. He had to play.
I don't really see where this matters now, if it wasn't good enough before.

I don't care about he Hall stuff, what really bothers me is all the wasted years ....
Reading back over his statement, neither do I really.
I'm just more angered he won't accept this award to do with the original band, because he thinks it supposedly hinders or discredits the current lineup.

I still think he should of turned up AND played. But the miserable cunt can't even just turn up. Hell he even refused the award. That's not even a compromise he's just done his best now to take a dump on the night and take the gloss of it for the others.

The fact that Axl thinks that reuniting with the original lineup to accept an award for one night, will hinder the new band, is laughable. The new band needs to do more than release one album in nearly 20 years, and stop touring off old songs. Hell, even CD is getting old. Get these new guys into a studio and kick our asses with some new music or shut the fuck up with your excuses.
What a fuckin pathetic old man Axl Rose is. To NOT accept this award is an insult to the fans that made him and the rest of the guys millionaires. And it's that same success that even allows him to tour in any version of Guns N' Roses that exists today.
I never thought I'd say this, but a big FUCK YOU Axl Rose.

It's a complete joke.
There is only one person hindering the current lineup and preventing them from moving forward and its not the nasty man with the top hat, it's the sideshow thats wearing the ridiculous mustache and hat with the crusty the clown hair.

I think we all knew (deep down) that if anything like a public reconciliation would happen it wasn't going to be at the HOF. I think we can agree to that.
tbh, I think this is better than him going and there being an embarrassing scene (Steven) or some crazy stipulations where he wouldn't share the stage with Slash, or do everything he could to avoid him, or whetever. And yes, not play. It's like I'll show up, but I'm not going to like it.
I think it was doomed from the start, and Axl was willing to participate in some form. What that is, I have no idea. I think he was reading the net, these boards, reading what people were saying about not playing (he alluded to it in the letter) reading Steven's comments and started to realize what a clusterfuck this was going to be.
Maybe he wanted to do his speech seperately. Maybe he wanted to choose who got inducted and protested Matt going in and not Tommy. Maybe he wanted beta to give a speech. Who knows, because he hasn't said what they refused to do for him, how they've disrespected him, or what the circumstances are that made him not only bow out, but refuse the award.
But the end of the day, this was probably for the best. And as I said before, until Slash comes out and apologizes to him for how he's "wronged" him and has lied, it's going to stay like this. He was halfway there with the night visit to Axl's house... Maybe he just needs another push
