Re: The Wrestling thread
I never once suggested people chose to be addicts. I just contested that it was a genetic trait. I have read up and there is some evidence to suggest that there is a genetic component to alcohol dependency. Until now I had been under the impression that it was more due to enviromental factors or psychological traits. Sorry if I offended you but please don't put words in my mouth.
Actually no, Bono is right as of now. As someone who's been close to psychology research in the last few years, the science is leaning more and more to believing addiction is the cause of heredity/genetics.
And with that said...
I think it is FULL BLOWN environment and social factors, and not a damn thing more. It's caused me to be at adds with several doctors.
Re: The Wrestling thread
As for Austin performing a match, Austin for the last few years has said on several occasions that he believes he as Two More Years in him FULL-TIME, meaning matches on PPV's, matches on Raw, and so forth.
Austin has also said that if he does come back, he prefers to do it that way, and not with one-off matches here and there, but with the quality of good writing, and SOLELY for the purpose of taking bumps and giving a push to someone new to pass the torch.
When asked, who?
Austin said the only guy backstage he'd consider is... CM Punk. McMahon has yet to call.
As for my opinion, it'd be pretty cool to see Austin come back and do a two year feud with Punk, resulting in a Wrestlemania match, and possibly a rematch. The Rock & Cena could also get involved.
My feelings on it are mixed. Austin is very unique in that his injuries caused his legend and quality of matches to remain top-notch. In other words, he went out while in his prime, just just before the decline was coming, and he knew it.
Do you bring him back to the novelty of it and giving a push to Punk, and deal with a less mobile Austin, while Austin is still of age and in shape enough to do it. Or to you leave his legacy alone, and let it lie?

I'd definitely be up for Austin coming back. I mean ever since he had his major neck injury he became a lot more careful in the ring and with that incident just before WM19 he knew it was the right time to get out. Again it's more about does he want to come back full time for even a year let alone two years. He's said he has it in him to do more but he's also said he doesn't know if he wants to.
I'd love to see a Punk feud. If you haven't seen it here's the promo video from WWE All Stars.

I gotta give them a pass here on not developing a CM Punk vs Austin feud. They got the Rock vs Cena this year and HHH-Undertaker on the top of the card. Adding on CM Punk-Austin on this year's card would be overkill. Better to save it for next year.
He could always do the HBK thing where he shows up for a few months before taking a break.
Re: The Wrestling thread
I still think throwing Austin in somewhere as a surprise secret spoiler for either the Rock/Cena match or more preferrably the Taker/HHH w/ HBK ref match would be a nice way to bring him in.
What would shock everyone?
This year is gonna be about Rock/Cena
This year is when Taker has the end of an era.
Nope Stone Cold comes in and spoils The Rock/Cena match (which could result in a Rock/Austin alliance and Cena/Punk alliance) It'd be a nice bridge to work him in, and get it going. Unless they want the Austin/Punk feud working right out of the gate, then no. I still think it'd be cool to if HBK sides with HHH and tries to end Taker and Austin shows up as Special Enforcer.
Either way would work him back into the fold, and not only build towards a Punk or Orton feud, but at the same time either option could prep a PPV rematch for Rock/Austin, Taker/Austin, HBK/Austin, HHH/Austin... and they've already teased all of those a few times in the last couple of years.
It might just be wishful thinking... or, maybe there's something there. But I haven't heard any rumblings that Austin is coming back. Although right now his B-level action films are starting to kinda get stinky.
Re: The Wrestling thread
The other problem with that video above is that Punk is gonna have to be a heel in any kind of Austin/Punk feud. As was learned in Austin's 2001 heel turn, the people just don't dig it.
I can see Austin taking a fall to put Punk over, but not in a simple 1, 2, 3 match. It would have to involve some sort of interference and or cheating on Punk's part.
Re: The Wrestling thread
Would be cool if Austin interferes and screws The Rock, setting up his "one last match" with Rock next year.
I wanna see one more Austin/Rock match, so does the world, if its ever going to happen now is the time.
Austin/Punk just pales in comparison, I dont see the point in coming back for that match.
Plus he's scared that he could end up seriously hurt cause of his neck issue, I can only really see him getting the ring with someone he has complete confidence in.
Re: The Wrestling thread
Hmm, that is an angle I never thought of. Austin would only trust Rock, HHH, Taker in the ring, just from experience.
Problem is... I don't see that interesting him enough to return. He'd probably rather let those Rock, HHH WrestleMania matches and the Taker SummerSlam match live on in infamy.
But at the same time he's said he'd only want to return to put someone new over. Kind of like The Rock is doing.
If Austin came back and agreed to "one last match" with The Rock, I think it would be mutually contingent on giving Punk a push. Or Orton. Austin has also referenced being a fan of Randy Orton.
Re: The Wrestling thread
Oh man HBK made me laugh tonight. Watch his reaction at the very end. Hilarious. Classic, arrogant, cocky, self absorbed HBK!
The promo is worth watching the whole thing. Triple H fucking owns it. I don't care what anyone says he's a badass character and his music is seriously the most kickass by far in my opinion. I find the angle here slightly surprising though. It's like they're building it up as the Undertaker is slightly intimidated or worried about Triple H. I don't ever recall seeing them take that approach with the Undertaker against anyone. Also I didn't realize how badly Triple H and Undertaker have dominated the Hell in a Cell matchs. They've been in 19/24 of them.
Again though watch for the punch line at the end and HBK's reaction. So awesome.
