He's playing in Grand Rapids (about 2 hours from me) in a small place called The Orbit Room around May. If it weren't for Myles singing the GN'R material I'd be all over it.

Bwhahahahahaha, yeah you're getting a karma. 16

I kid.  But seriously, any reason given for the departure of Bobby, who I freely admit I never heard of before reading that article.  Does he have better things going on than playing with Slash?  Hard to imagine.  Again though, I don't know the man.  I'm sure he has his reasons.

Bobby doesn't play on the new album, it was recorded with Slash, Myles, Brent and Todd. So it WILL be the band that's on the album, along this new guy Frank that has been hired for the tour, playing the songs live.

I am curious as to why Bobby is no longer involved though.

Why was Bobby not on the record?  Wasn't he in the band when they recorded it?  I haven't followed the situation all that closely if you can't tell.

Bobby's non-involvement with the album, and now non-involvement with the tour, hasn't really been explained. I thought he was pretty good the few times I saw them live.

Yes, I liked him. I hope it's not because they thought he was too old and didn't like his image.

I read somewhere that he wanted to focus more on his own solo career. It's not really explained, for sure.
Bobby was a really good player, but when I saw them on Novarock 2010, he was somehow out of place. Didn't seem to enjoy himself, while the rest of them were having a great time. Bobby was a monster player back in 1996 though, when I saw him with Slash's Blues Ball.

Anyway, I don't know how this new guy can play, I've never heard him, but he seems to be rock and roll. Which is the first step to greatness. 16

There are some photos of Frank on his facebook page, and in one of them, you could easily mistake him for Slash, if you you didn't know any different.

He definitely looks like a rocker, a bit like Dave Grohl.

I searched some youtube clips of him with his band The Cab, and none of them showed any rock guitar from what I saw. They sounded a bit like Jamiroquai...:ummm:

I read that Bobby doesn't want to committ to another 2 year tour. There was no beef.

That would make sense.

I was day dreaming the other day about being in Slash's band and how bad ass it would be. Then it struck me. The guy almost lives to tour. If you love the constant travel it would be kickass. But I can imagine that some people get back from a 2 year stint and want more than a couple of months with their family and so on.
