Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"

I didn't find Black Ice embarrassing at all, if anything, the fact that they can still do it is quite inspirational.
Axl's got his unique sound, his chrisma and his musical skills. Fuck relevance...he's still got a lot to offer.:mosh:
well two things initially spring to mind:
i was speaking in reference to videos firstly - GnR were the preeminent artists of the video/mtv era & if they're gonna try & recapture what they once were & shoot videos they would look cheesey as fuck. imagine for a moment had they made a video of SoD & had it done the same sort style of SCOM/Yesterdays (or heaven forbid, Don't Cry or Estranged). it would be just gross.
secondly, there is a whole hell of a lot more goodwill out there for AC/DC than there is for axl & his current line-up of GnR.
now i saw AC/DC on that Black Ice tour & they were terrific.
& GnR & Axl are perhaps even better on their day in the live setting.
perhaps my favourite live (energetic) rock n roll show ever was when i saw the reformed stooges a few years ago before ron ashton passed away. i've seen the stones two or three times the past decade (@ least twice that i can remember!) so i don't have an aversion to old farts playing rock n roll.
i just don't think the image of Axl & current GnR can be sold easily. i think it would maybe even do more harm than good to their credibility(!) were they promoting their records with glossy photoshoots & high-end videos.
re: RRHOF - yea a performance by the non-axl AFD/UYI line-up's would be the shit hitting the fan. you could see axl never really recovering from that one (or it could fuel his bitterness & motivate him to actually get out of his fucking mansion & promote the current band, but that's hugely unlikely)
Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
^ I'm sure Slash, Steven and Duff will GO..but that doesn't mean they'd peform as GNR even if Izzy shows.
They'd make an apperance...but it might be like at Steven's gig where they'll only play together if at least 2/5 of the old band are not on stage.
Playing as 4/5 GNR sans Axl would kill any future reunion in a way that their other actions seem to avoid.
I wouldn't be surprised if some of them played as part of an all-star line up or something though.
But they would be inducted as GN'R, though. So, there's no way to distance themselves from it. If you're inducted, you're inducted as part of the band.
The Hall considers the bands history as important as the current figuration, most times even more so. If they're going, they're going on stage as GN'R. And I'm sure they'll play together. There's no way in my mind that they wouldn't. The whole point is showing up and playing as the band, celebrating what they did. And I think the guys have made it clear that they consider it THEIR history too, and I don't see them watering down the moment because of Axl, or fueling any rumors. It's their night. They'll play as GN'R. Probably with a different singer.
I think there is a chance of Axl showing up and performing with the old guys. Slim, but a chance. But it would be more of a one off show, then Axl carrying on with his current band... Some performances with Duff guesting, and maybe, if the hatchet is buried good enough, perhaps Slash will guest a few shows. Then I could see a full reunion show, ala Led Zeppelin. Any long term plans; tour, album, just way too volatile, imo.

my thoughts exactly...but i would have to disagree on the last part though unless it was only a couple of them at one time ... but i doubt that 4 of them would play wttj with another singer or whatever
Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
Unfortunately Axl is on a hiding to nothing come HOF time. If he doesn't show or refuses to play or interact with the original guys then that just makes him look like a cockhead (or confirms that status for those who already think he is one).
On the other hand if he does get up with the old guys in some capacity then how can it not have some type of negative impact for NuGNR and his plans there (if any), and their legitimacy.
Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
the only chance for the horrible institution that is the RRHOF to achieve even an iota of credibility they need to induct GnR on first go AND get the AFD line-up to reform for it. if both those things don't happen it'll remain an embarrassing totem to a movement that deserves much more than some jann wenner-approved museum.
to be honest i would prefer there wasn't a RRHOF & think it's an atrocious thing, but in the context of the GnR drama it does offer another exciting chapter to see how dysfunctional GnR & it's band-relations have become.

Yeah i doubt that too. I ment like I could see one or two of them in some kind of random set up. Like if they get some kind of cover band camp freddy style to do GNR tracks I could see maybe slash comming up and doing SCOM or something. But in my mind i'd be really surprised if the full 4 guys played together without Axl playing. Would wreck any chance of a reunion later.
For that matter...if going to have a reunion why do it at hall of fame. Wouldn't it make more sense to pocket $100 million and do it as a handful of shows at some massive stadium? Just saying.
My personal view is that they'll be inducted sans peformance.
