Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
just to clarify...this board doesn't blow because of the negativity. i thought i was clear that that this place used to be great because of just that - you could be negative and have honest discussions.
this board blows because there's very little originality. people post the same shit in every thread. it just gets boring. there should just be an "axl hates touring" thread, and you guys can go have a field day in there and count the number of shows Axl has played in the last 5 years.
Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
this settlement will finally be the end of gnr
axl being forced to tour is a recipe for disaster & when it all goes tits up & he walks out azoff'll have axl's balls & gnr's legacy from that lawsuit..
once this tour collapses it prob will be reunion or bust, literally.

Would Axl have settled on an agreement if it forced him to tour though?
Surely the agrement is something that agrees terms and conditions for when the band chooses to tour.
Like guarentees certain venues or percentages of payments at market rates or something.
I don't know...just saying I don't see why he'd settle himself into a corner. If you are right that he is being pressured to tour - then I'd agree there will be trouble - if history shows us anything it's that Axl isn't someone you can tame into a puppet.
Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
I think Axl just wanted some mutual respect from Azoff. I think striking the touring deal was him trying to show solidarity with Azoff for future business.
He's not stupid. Being on a guy like Azoff's good side is a good thing.
After this ordeal, even Axl probably found out how much power a guy like Irving holds.

Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
I just see it as them sorting out all the issues at once.
It was clear there were originally plans for a USA tour either last year or this year - bumblefoot said he was waiting hoping it would happen then it didn't yet. And Msl claimed to have obtained copies of plans for it. But even without msl it was obvious from the band that they were keeping time free hoping it would happen, then it didn't and they're doing stuff to fill in time.
So something derailed those plans. It may not have been Azoff himself - could just be there was some sticking point in negotiations somewhere.
But it makes sense...if you've been shut in a little room to sort out your issues about payments owing, and breach of trust and so on. And you also have a desire to tour the usa and the guy you are arguing against can either facilitate that or make it hard - seems like a good chance to sort everything out and clean the slate. Then not only is the law suit gone, but you don't have to start protracted negotiations for a tour. sort of efficeient while everyone's lawyers are in the one place.
So i'm hoping its axl hitting two birds with one stone so to speak and not that he's somehow been blackmailed into a tour.
I also see it as mistrust: Like axl's lawsuit basicly said Azoff tried to trick him into a reunion. He could be worried that he'll settle this whole suit, and everyone will smile and shake hands, then when he tries to tour next year he finds himself on some kind of shitlist at livenation. So if you are Axl, it's sort of insurance that when you agree to put this whole issue to bed, that you make sure that in the event you want to tour, there's an inprinciple agreement saying you can and how it will work. Just makes sense to me. Of course I don't speak for axl and have no knowledge about it all - just in theory - if I were Axl i'd sort out the tour now too.

You're not being fair. What you just said can be a statement regarding ALL these sites. We follow a band that does nothing so of course the same discussions are going to repeat themselves. That's how it was before CD was released and that's how it is now. This site doesn't deserve to be singled out for that.
If GNR released songs/albums like other artists/bands, you'd see a huge change in the type of discussion. Same if a leak occurred.
I shouldn't even need to say this as you've been around long enough to know this. I remember you years ago at HTGTH. You were a damn good poster there, but what were we talking about? The same old shit that had been discussed for years.
That's just how it is following this band online.

Agree. I'd add that Axl likes to give bones to the fans. Not real bones, but the possibility of a bone. This is another 'hold on' message to the (US) fan base. Without any evidence (promise, lie or guarantee) of happening in the next months or years.

Saw this on twitter. Nothing definitive, obviously, but going along with the theory that a US tour is at least being considered/worked on.

Possible U.S. dates?: Heard this the other day on WCCC in Connecticut. http://bit.ly/kcDmN9 #GunsNRoses
The discussion is kind of lengthy, the GNR part comes about 3/4 of the way through. Basically the concert promoter says he does believe GNR will play somewhere in Connecticut by the end of the year. And they discuss playing either the Mohegan Sun Arena, which seats around 10,000 or the Comcast Theater which seats around 6,000.
