Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
I guess I just don't understand going to a GNR fan site to constantly claim that GNR doesn't exist.
Agreed.
Nor do I understand those that take shots at the new band for no other obvious reason other than to provoke a reaction from the fans of the new era of GN'R. Granted, that doesn't really happen here as much, but on other boards, christ, it happens a lot. It's more than incomprehensible - it's utterly pointless.

I've come to the conclusion that there are two major reason for "trolling" boards with this "it's-not-real-guns-it's-the-Axl-Rose-Solo-project-and-the-new-era-sucks" -mentality.
It's either from a place of passion. You know, the music from way back when hit you really hard at a time when some people really get into music and stick with it for life!
Or they have other personal issues that are depressing to deal with and are just angry a lot of the time. Both reasons are understandable.
And Ali is right, there ARE less of those people here. You can prolly count them one one hand. Which is why this is my prefered board to post on. But boy, do they stand out!

It's not trolling. It's simply a difference of opinion.
Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
I've got a long history of being at odds with people over the "which era of which band is real" issue.
Here's an example involving Pink Floyd associated material:
I cannot stand the first Floyd record (Piper at the Gates of Dawn). On the other hand, I do like the solo records that Syd put out after he left Floyd and of course I love the material they went on to make without him. Then there's the material after Roger left. I like 2 or the 3 solo albums he did and I like 1 of the 2 albums they did without him.
I've had actual arguments with people about this. From people who just can't understand how I wouldn't like Syd's material with Syd but like his solo material. Or people who can't understand how I could possibly like the post-Roger material while liking Roger's solo stuff at the same time.
People get all up in arms over each era of Floyd. There are those who flip out about ANYTHING past the first album being considered "Pink Floyd" and again there are those that throw a fit about it still being called Pink Floyd after Roger left.
While I can understand how some people would feel that way and respect their thoughts on the matter, they can't seem to conjure up the same respect for me and it still goes on today. I haven't been on a Floyd board in ages but I'm willing to bet that somewhere there's a big thread about the forthcoming Floyd box sets being derailed by some Syd Barrett fan feeling the need to stop by just to mention that "it's not Pink Floyd"
Everyone knows the Momentary Lapse of Reason/Division Bell-band is the real Floyd.

No, anybody with a "difference of opinion" is a troll...at least to those that sit on the other side of the fence. One side doesn't mind discussing issues, the other side loves to call people on the other side trolls and other nice things. They complain about the negativity, but seem to ignore that there would be no discussion without it.
There was a time that I cared if people thought this is GnR. I'm so far past that because it's pretty clear that outside of the boards, very few consider it to be GnR. That's just the truth, and it offends the people that think otherwise. I know I'm not going to change their mind, so I just let it go for the most part. I don't understand the obsession for why it HAS to be considered GnR just because one person owns the rights to the name. I will 100% grant anybody the fact that the band that tours these days is called GnR. It's not really GnR, but it does bear the name. Most people accept that. I just don't get why the few that don't can't accept it.
Re: Azoff-Axl Lawsuit Settled: Includes "comprehensive touring agreement"
There is trolling. And there is difference of opinion. The two are not the same. And it has nothing to do with negativity. I think Mikka is a troll, without a doubt, when it comes to the main GNR boards. To the point where it gets to personal insults. Yet people will support and defend Mikka and not call him out because they agree with Mikka's "negative opinions." That's trollish behavior. It's not about someone having a negative opinion, I can get along with people who don't think it's GNR, it's when it goes past just being personal opinion and you're deliberately starting an argument (with almost every post about the new line up, Axl, whatever) or deliberately being a dick.
I think that nearly everyone at HTGTH is a troll. And they're all "positive."
I've never deducted karma from Mikka, even when he's called me an idiot and shit like that for the simple reason that I disagreed with him. And even though I've gotten negative karma for telling him to shut up for doing it to others. There's not an even handedness to people with just "negative opinions" about GNR to keep things civil. It is what it is.

If you absolutely have to mention that the current GNR isn't GNR three or more times during a couple of pages in a thread, to me that's trollish.
Or if you keep repeating that there is only one or no good song on CD several times in one day, to me that's trollish behavior.
But like I said, you can count these kind of posters on one hand here at gnrevolution. Some take the bait, some ignore it!

I wouldn't say there is only one good song on CD. I'd say probably 10 out of 14 tracks are good, but only a few of them are great.
