I think the post CD letdown was that there were no real surprises outside Sorry and TIL. We basically had the album for 2 years before it was released and some of us *raises hand* got attached to the original demos.

And the fact the CD was released with a wimper. The wind was already out of the sails for a lot of people when Bucket left.

I agree with a lot of what mrID said.  I actually think the boards have improved since CD was released, but mostly because a lot of the stupid debates have died down and most of the real trolls are gone.  A few fights still exist from time to time, but even those are less intense than they used to be.  In some ways, it's less fun, but it's far less annoying than it used to be.  That's a trade off I'm willing to make.

I'm probably one of the worst offenders in saying things over and over!

I also feel like I know a number of you from long term interactions. Plus I've met a couple of the other Australian members who are good people.

Although there's both postive and negative around here, I enjoy the community in general. I find it interesting to see what others think about the band and the participants, even when it varies differently to my opinions.

I also find this community interesting in a broader non-gnr sense, I'm often exposed to news, other music, funny videos and all kinds of other things via this site that I may not have otherwise come across or come across as fast.

I do agree that elements of the conversation here can get circular..but then that's also because a lot of things tend to happen the same way with GNR...never sure who's in or out, if a tour is happening or not, if we'll end up hearing a lot of new music one day or none at all.

It's the opposite of a band like megadeth where there's strong communication and you know what the band is doing at all times, and you know the current new projects, and you can have a reasonable certanty that they will be completed to fruition. Right now mustane is working on a new deth album - I know who's involved and how it's doing and if that album isn't out for release in around a year or sooner i'd be really shocked.

That's not to say GNR has to be anything like megadeth, GNR is my favourite band and they can do things how they want. But I'm saying if people get sick of fans having the same discussions it's partially because the questions remain forever unresolved.

I think it would been alot more fun amoung fans (well to me) and the public, had the album never been released with just random leaks occuring every year or so, like 2006/07/08.

I love 3/4 of the tracks or demos, I just don't think either the band or the fans benefited too much post November 2008.

It's about time for the second round of leaks.....:haha:

I hate the fact we even have to say that.

All it'd take is Axl w/ a mic, DJ on acoutic guitar, Chris on bass, and Dizzy on bongos w/ a 5-track EP plus three live classics dropped on iTunes, and the community would fuckin' EXPLODE.

Dude 1 track on itunes and i'd explode wink

I sort of hope there arn't leaks this time. The better leak and stuff was kind of exciting, but then when there were multiple leaks and we basicly got the whole album it took the impact out of it.

I think hearing a full new album of gnr tracks with virgin ears would be pretty cool for the next album.

Quadrupled.

This time around, i'm staying away from the leaks. But ONLY if I KNOW an album is on the horizon. I want to hear it fresh too.
