Re: alternative Player embedding
Is it possible to fix this website to allow other types of media players?
I have came across several of these that I would like to add to my posts. If there is anything I can do to help with this just let me know.

Im not sure about this particular setup they have but afaik otherwise, that sort of embed wouldnt work, its only for embedding directly into pages and the way forums work, would need to be setup server-side to handle links from that site much like the youtube mod.

there are so many types of players.
when you say server side do you mean you have to be able to put in HTML or Flash, java code?
I dont know much about it. I just thought it could be set up by a mod. like the youtube links

its a few lines of code like youtube but to do it for every site that has videos to embed, well it would be a 'mare. Would be nice to have a catch-all thing like /video{blah}/video

Mick did you have an idea for a catch all media type plugin? there have been several audio and video that i would have liked to set up ..latest was the BBF podcast and the DJ interview video. any other mods have any interest in doing somehting like the youtube button. that would search whatever the addy was for the player and make it playable on GnR Evo? ....sorry to keep bringin it up

Not sure tbh. I think something like that would be much easier if/when html5 gets more popular.
