Metallica used to play a pretty static setlist didn't they?  Are they just changing it up this tour, or is it because they played multiple nights in the same city?

I've seen Metallica once, but it was back in the mid 90's, and I wasn't as aware of their old stuff at the time.  I was more interested in hearing stuff from "Black" and "Load" believe it or not.  It was still a great show, but I'm sure it'd be even more enjoyable for me nowadays.

Well, I did it, 3 nights of Metallica in one week!
First night was the radio hits, with 6 songs from the Black album played, the second night was more old school, and tonight was even more old school with 6 songs from Master of Puppets getting played!

It's awesome that the band mixes it up like that.
I'm welly and truly buggered after all that, the three shows have nearly killed me, and I don't think I want to see Metallica for another 10 years... Which is usually the gap between tours here for them anyway! 16

That sounds like a great time. Very cool. I've always wanted to hear Kill 'Em All in full at a show. My favorite album of their's.

Metallica have always mixed up their sets, even if it's only a few songs here and there. But on this tour they've mixed it up even more.

Metallica To Begin Writing Again In 2011
By Tim Cashmere
Yesterday at 3:45pm (Sat, 13 Nov 2010 15:45:21 +1100)
Metallica’s Lars Ulrich has revealed that the band has plans to begin work on a new album in 2011.

In an interview with Pulse of Radio, the drummer said “There’s a bunch of balls in the air for 2011, but I think the main one is we really want to get back to writing again. We haven’t really written since, what, 2006, 2007 and we want to get back to kind of just being creative again.

“Right now we are going to just chill out and then probably start up again in, I’d say, March or April and start probably putting the creative cap back on and start writing some songs.”

He may be one of the biggest rock stars in the world, but METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich told Australia's The Advertiser late last week that he is "Mr. Mom" when he is back home in the San Francisco area. Ulrich admitted, "Yes, I am a 'Mr Mom.' I take care of three kids pretty much full time — they are three, nine and 12. My main job is being a taxi driver or a chauffeur. I just drive kids around all day. So when I'm on tour, I get a chance to be driven, and handed blueberry protein shakes — without vodka — and to sit and check my lack of hair in this mirror."

Ulrich has two sons, Myles and Layne, with former wife Skylar Satenstein, and a third boy, Bryce, with his current partner, actress Connie Nielsen.

When asked what the rock star life was like these days, Ulrich replied, "Today it was scrambled egg whites for breakfast, playing Solitaire on my iPad and I got to watch the last of this movie, 'Carlos', that I started watching on the plane, and here's my blueberry protein shake. As you can tell, it's a little too healthy."

METALLICA is currently completing the touring cycle for its 2008 album "Death Magnetic" with a last round of dates in Australia and New Zealand.

The band may bring the "Big Four" tour to the U.S. in 2011 and is scheduled to headline the Rock In Rio festival next September.

I had no clue James was still baggin' on Axl's NEW tour rider.

I'm glad to see they both haven't changed. Hopefully Axl has grown more of a sense of humor over this kind of stuff since 1992. It's funny man - LAUGH.

This happened at the show I was at too, but I didn't see it happen at the time.

Yeah, the stage set up was great, just the band on a stage, right in the middle of the arena, everyone had a great view.
And they had these giant coffin box shaped lighting rigs that would move throughout the concert for different effects.
