I wish I had paid more attention to your post. Be careful with EBay, there's a Chicago DVD floating around that claims itself as an official release that's only the first half of the show.

Check the thread, it's all there. Only thing to be warned, is the Chicago show cuts off at the beginning of Paradise City, like many boots from that era.
I paid like 9 bucks - it was the video through Coma, which I knew wasn't the end of the show, but all of the dvd's I saw ended at the same place.
If I go through the trouble of downloading all the parts of the other video, can I throw them on a recordable dvd and play it like any other dvd?
Yes, looking at the size of these files they seem to be either isos or VIDEO_TS files. That means you can just burn them onto a DVDR of your choice and play them in a dvd player. If it were an avi, you'd have to go through the trouble of converting it with software.

The Ritz is the perfect snapshot of what GNR was at the time. I don't care how fucked up they were. It was real and a complete contrast to the watered down shit being fed to the masses. MTV played this concert and it got such a huge response they started showing it several times a day. After that died down, MTV still turned several songs from the show into videos. So on top of videos of Jungle, PC, SCOM, and then Patience in heavy rotation, you got see videos taken from this performance of KOHD, Out Ta Get Me, Jungle, ISE,etc.
This performance definitely played a role in the band becoming so huge.
Its considered a legendary show for a reason.
KOHD at the ritz is the best version of that song ever played by gnr
I sort of agree with this, but the Marquee version being played on top 40 radio back then(would have charted top 10 had this version been a single) is just as good and the Osaka 88 version pretty fucking solid as well.
edit: Question to the old timers.....was there also a video made from this performance of Nightrain?

I think there was. Nightrain was my favourite song and I remember my older brother used to tease me when he got back from his friends house who had mtv, saying he had seen the Nightrain video. I seem to remember from his description some of it was in black and white footage. like the PC video. Could be trippin tho

Don't know if you guys listened to that interview of Alan Niven a few weeks back...
Anyway, he had some interesting info on the MTV Ritz show.
Apparently it was intended to be a Great White-show with GNR as the opening act. But Niven managed to arranged it so that both bands got their own full show.
GNR was getting too big to open for Great White....

I agree, but in all fairness I HAVE to give a shoutout to that Freddie Mercury Tribute performance in 1992. Probably the best raw energy from the band you saw post-1991, they were firing on all cylinders, bigger than life at that point, very Queen, very stadium rock. I remember MTV turning it into a video, and running it quite a bit too. I still used to see it on MTV2 back a few years ago, when I still had the channel.
It was a great moment for the band, even if it was sans Izzy & Steven.

Yeah, the first time I heard him on Patience it blew me away.
A little off topic, but since we brought up earlier; Russ, there's a great new Pink Floyd doc called Which One's Pink. I swear the more I learn the more I respect Roger Waters. He seems to have accepted responsibility for things going south, being pissed off at the other guys for not accepting his leadership (even though he WAS the genius of that band), and at peace that they moved on without him. Gilmore strikes me as very, very flakey (I know its wrong, but I still see him as the "new guy" and I can't understand how he got so much power in the band) and was the one guy who doesn't want to make music again. Even Richard Wright did before he died and Waters fired him when he was in the band
