Re: Food that you crave and must have at times
Okay we all those couple of foods that we must have sometimes, either at home or at a restaurant.
For me, when I have an opportunity to go out to dinner, I MUST go to either the Cheesecake Factory or it's sister restaurant here, Grand Lux and have the Carrot Cake or the Banana Creme Pie, I order either of those every single time.
For a meal, it's sicillian pizza, I gotta at some point during the year have that and when I do I have 3 slices, I love it so much...mmmmmmm. I deprive myself so bad from pizza that when I allow my cheat I go nuts.
Re: Food that you crave and must have at times
I was never a big candy or chocolate eater. But since I got sober I get almost uncontrollable urges for candy. My vice now is skittles and any kind of chocolate bar. Apparently its sorta normal with some alcoholics. It supposedly has something to do with alcohol after its filtered through your liver, it acts as if it were pure sugar.
But other than that, I've become a born again fitness buff since I got clean. I havent had any "unneeded" foods in a long time.
Re: Food that you crave and must have at times
Haha, I like to have ice cream too, even though I only eat it about once a week or so, sometimes not even that. I'm not big on candy or chocolate either, but oddly enough whenever I eat chinese food or hot wings, the next day I crave chocolate. I worked with a guy who had the same craving after chinese food. Not sure what it is. I love chicken wings, try to eat them about once a month, just eat a bunch of them (20 or 30) & watch a game. And I eat pizza or cheesesteaks every weekend. Sometimes both, but every weekend it's one or the other. Also, I never cook on Friday or Saturday nights. It's just my thing.

Sopas from the Portuguese Pentecostal celebrations(also known as Holy Ghost celebrations and various other names). Talked about this at the old site. They have these events from late May to late august. Happens every sunday in a different town each week, although each town has it twice a year. Its French Bread with a very tasty broth poured over the bread, and you also get meat to go with it. They serve pickles and these salty beans as appetizers to make you thirsty so you'll buy their high priced drinks.
I try and go to as many of these as possible. Been going to these since I was a kid. One of my all time favorite foods.
Another major craving is sandwiches from The Red Steer. Its semi famous in this part of the state. Greatest French Dip sandwiches I have ever ate in my life, and thats usually what I order. Also have a killer BBQ beef sandwich, and on fridays when I go there I order some of their clam chowder to go with a sandwich.
I used to get insane cravings for KFC and it was my favorite fast food place as a kid. Over the years the quality continually gets worse and I don't even crave the shit anymore.
Been cutting back on sweets, but I used to crave Foster Farms Peanut Butter ice cream and also craved donuts from Safeway.
Before anyone asks, no I am not into the pentecostal religion. Not a catholic either. My grandpa found out about these events back in the 50's, and various people in our family have went ever since.
Its open to the public, so its not like we are crashing their party. Besides, even though I am white as a ghost, they like me because I donate at each one I go to. Never bothered me to donate 20 bucks each time I go there because the food is free. They should let you donate to the cooks instead of the churches because they deserve it.

This thread is making me hungry!!
Speaking of Ice Cream, all summer long I had to have Ralph's Ice's on Sunday nights. I would always get either Rainbow Cookie or Spumoni. They should really stay open all year round
