I don't think the point of the counter suit was to say SCOM or WTTJ... Guitar Hero II or III...

It was Axl saying that Azoff promised to launch suit against Activision on his behalf, Axl expected a monetary settlement, didn't get it, and he's owed that money too.

Look, SOME, of the lawsuit has merit. I guess you are supposed to go for as much as you can, I get that, just that this goes on ALL THE FUCKING TIME WITH AXL.  Because of this shit, he can't tour, etc.  It really sux.  Honestly, I bet Azoff tried to work with Axl and communicate with him, but we all know how hard that can be.  Maybe its time for Axl to put his balls on the line and fuck the record company and go it like Slash, from his own pocket, and finance his next album and avoid this bullshit.

Actually from 2005-2008, Axl was funding CD out of his own pocket. Thus the touring. It was recoup money for production costs. Azoff only managed the deal with BB to take on the debt for both Uni & Axl, while making a profit himself for brokering the deal.

I'm sure Azoff did try to work with Axl, but Azoff LIKE THE SMART BUSINESS MAN HE IS KNOWS THE ONLY FUTURE FOR GUNS N' ROSES IN THE YEARS TO COME IS A REUNION. Any fucking idiot on the street knows that. It doesn't matter how much you love Axl, how much you love new Guns, irrelevant... we're talking business now, and Azoff knew this was the point in signing up. He wants new Guns in his roster, so he can help promote a band that gets 3,000-4,000 people out to an arena in the states? Come on, he was looking at the bigger picture, and Axl balked. When that happened, Azoff tried to strong arm the business, and force Axl to reunite.

Brilliant business.

I also want to point out that Activision never consulted Axl on using WTTJ (they state SCOM) in Guitar Hero III, because of the fact they were not breaching anything. Axl had licensed his stake in the back catalog out by that point,

That doesn't mean anything. All we know is that Axl made a publishing deal, unless i'm wrong, we don't know the terms of that deal.

It could easily be the case, and indeed it most often is the case, that the artist will get approval rights over all snycs and similar deals. That is, he's giving a share of the income from them to the publishing company who's job it also is to get the deals in the first place but he has the right to stop deals he doesn't want happening.

In exchage they give him a massive advance on his cut of royalties from the deals they do upfront, then he'll get a % of what they both make.

Bottom line, if his publishing deal gives him creative control of such matters then he would absolutely need to be consulted before the song was used in a game.

It may be that he doesn't have such a clause in his contract, but it's axl, given the control he's keep over other GNR property I'd be surprised if he pissed this away.

Anyway...we don't know but i'm saying your assumption that because he did a publishing deal he automaticly has no grounds is inaccurate.

So you're telling me, that throughout the history of the Guitar Hero franchise, they've correctly and completely cleared all music rights, without incident, including notoriously difficult acts like KISS & The Rolling Stones, and yet throughout all those years, suddenly Axl wants to sue?

He has no freakin' grounds, or otherwise Axl himself would've pursued it YEARS ago. He doesn't want to get the song pulled, because it would cost him the money he wants, but he wants to just exert authority? That's a mindfuck that none of us could get around.

Axl has no grounds on that Activision case. I'm telling you as sure as God made green apples. He's pissed off that Slash cashed in, and Activision dealt exclusively with Slash on a Guns N' Roses promotion, and it pisses him off. Nothing more, so he's gonna sue... well guess what... no you ain't.

And if Axl puts that shit in front of a judge, saying Azoff owes him money for a lawsuit that was never pursued, they're gonna throw it out of court immediately.

and for the record, Gnr averaged 8400 and 8600 a night on the 2002 and 2006 North American tours. Facts are facts. Those are not reunion numbers but they are not bad.

Axlin08 is spot on about the Activision comments. Axl is not telling the truth. Those guys would have music lawyers up the wazoo making sure they didn't cross Jagger, Rose, etc.. it would cost millions.

Axl Rose Says Managers Had "Secret Plan" to REUNITE GUNS N' ROSES

The irony is, this just might play into Azoff/Slash's hand. "Plans to reunite GN'R" will spread like wildfire, Axl Rose being searched stays up there because of the TM/LN comments, and suddenly GNR's name is thrown around and people will start going "wait, I thought they were reuniting?"

Might just increase demand for a reunion over new Guns, if people actually know it was on the table short of just internet geeks bullshitting.

Has anybody every worked with Axl in any capacity for a period of time (no Brian May guest appearances) and remained close to him?

Tommy, Dizzy and Beta.

Beta left Stephanie we all know. She's been with Axl. Obviously, if Axl was a dick she would have left.

Manager-wise it's a different ballgame.

Axl wants something, managers want something. Doesn't work out.

I am just skeptical about managers and agents in general. There's always agendas going around, and I don't think their agendas go much further than making money...

I know a singer who's been changing managers since the 80's. He's a really great guy. He just don't want the same things as managers and it don't usually work out. He doesn't have any issues or anything, it simply doesn't work most of the time, so don't be too quick to blame it on Axl's history. That's too easy IMO.

I am only referring to people he worked with that left at any point.  How many of them is he close to?  None of them.  No one.  Izzy shows up when it pleases him, but to call them close would be at best an overstatement.

I would imagine Best Buy has to be happy about any press at all. But then again, I don't think I ever did see that "monumental campaign" they themselves promised...

Was in best buy today, they have a gazillion copies of CD... just sitting there.. They can't give the shit away.
