Ron's Catcher solo is really growing on me... so much to the point, I might think it's one of GNR's best. At first I was turned off because of the exposure to May's work on the '99 demo... but i'm slowly coming around on it. Ron shines.

Yeah I was slow to warm up to it too.  I did dig May's solo.  BUT, I think Ron's does the trick and fits in nicely with Axl on the outro.  And I haven't listened to the leak (or any leak for that matter) since the album's release, so I don't seem to miss Brian May's solo too much.

I know you (Axlin) won't agree with me on this one but Robin's solo on TIL has grown on me too.  I actually never thought it was bad, but the song as a whole I wasn't too fond of at first.  I wouldn't say it's one of my favorites now, but I do like the song.  And I can't wait to hear DJ's take on Robin's solo.

Robin's solo works with the song, but that's still the best I can say. Thankfully Axl and the orchestra is so amazing that the song continues to be a masterpiece.

But I still can't hear that TIL solo, and think every time that it's aching for Slash. I don't think ANYTHING about the old members on the rest of CD, except for that one part.

I know people feel that ALL GN'R songs should have a solo because it's a rock band, but TIL could've just been Axl, his piano and that orchestra and i'd still have to wipe my mouth after listening to it. 11

I love Ron's catcher solo as well....and the tasty licks right at the end of the vocal outro. Finck's solo on TIL has really grown on me ...especially the parts after the drums and bass kick in.

at the end of the day, I think my 5 favorite songs are Catcher, TWAT, Sorry, TIL, and Prostitute.

really don't understand the love for catcher. to me it sounds out of place thematically and it just sounds too messy compared to the fabulous fluidity and pristine presentation of the rest - and not messy in a good way, messy in an expensive, rubbish way.

aye, true enough! only realised there now what i'd done.
i do actually really like the song. the raining guitars are golden and axl's lyrics that 'specifically' relate to lennon are among the most affecting in the Guns catalogue (inparticularly the final lines). and i fucking LOVE "you decide 'cause i don't have to", which has become one of my most quoted sayings this past year..
