Is there some release I don't know of post-Angel Down? That album is not new, and frankly - neither is CD. So that's not a reason.

Friends, and maybe Baz's Canadian heritage is what comes into play.

But Baz & Bret are peas in a pod. In some weird way, I respect Bret more, because he totally knows what he is and loves it. Baz sits there and thinks he's some bad ass rock n' roller... yeah right. If he's bad ass, so is Stephen Pearcy.

That's why I put "new" in quotations.  He's got "new" music to play instead of Skid Row tunes.  You were calling for an 80's glam rock band to play.  While I'm sure Baz will play the classic Skid Row songs, he'll be playing plenty of "new" stuff too, at least that's what he did last time out.  Axl's not looking to latch on with another band from the 80's.  Like you said, he's friends with Baz.  That's the main reason.

There are so many other Canadian acts Axl could've picked that would've been more relevant than Baz.  I do not like Theory of a deadman but I think they would've been better.  Baz may not be glam but like glam he sucks big time.  I was serious when I said Warrant would've been a better choice.  No they are not relevant but would've been a fun act.  Plus I'm not easily offended and I wanna make it clear that I ain't offended by Baz.  The guy to make himself look bad ass swears worst than 10 sailors together.  Comes off as fake to me.  Seriously the fact that he's opening could very well mean I am not going to a GNR show.

Yeah, but he already had him throughout 2006 & 2007.

You don't keep the same opening act for years and years.

But then again, GN'R rarely tours, so I guess it isn't a big deal to throw Baz a paycheck anytime they tour. hmm

Interesting perspective, but aren't you really going for a GN'R show? Just don't show up to later on in the evening. Axl does it, I did it, you can do it. 16

But you said it they do not tour often and the tours are not as successful as they used to be or should be.  So why not spice things up to try and bring more asses in the seats?  Baz will bring zero asses in the seats.

Call me cheap and I am.  If I pay to see a show I wanna see the opening acts.  Sometimes you discover great music.  In 06 The Trews opened for GNR to the show I went.  Didn't know the Trews and man I thought they were great and bought their albums.  Liked it and became a fan.  I'm always curious to discover new bands.  I have zero interest to hear Baz scream swear and try to make us believe he's the shits for a whole hour.  And when I buy a ticket I wanna see the whole fucking show.  Axl should bring someone that is relevant.  I do not know Danko Jones but at least they got my interest.  I'm curious to discover their music.  Instead of Baz they should bring a Ukelele player.  May be boring but at least it would get people curious.  *lol*

I'm the opposite.  I could care less who the opener is, as I rarely go in until the main act is ready to play.  I like Papa Roach, but only saw them play their last 3 songs when the opened for GNR.  I missed Baz altogether.

Have you seen Baz play before?  Do you just not like him?  His music?  Both?

I understand people being upset and wanting something new, something bigger and better.  But it shows Axl's loyalty to his friends.  I think he's thankful to Baz for being there for him over the last couple of years and he's showing his appreciation by bringing him along to tour.  Maybe he'd rather do it that way than try to get more asses in the seats by picking a more relevant band.  I too don't know much about Danko Jones, maybe THEY are that band.  Someone on HTGTH mentioned how Ron is friends with guys from the band.

Terrible, terrible choice. We're already entering worst case scenario and the tour hasn't even started yet. This is going to be an exact repeat of 2006-07, and if he brings Baz to the US tour, you're gonna get a repeat of the fall 2006 tour stats, half empty everywhere but NY and LA.

Like I've stated many times, Baz chases people away from buying a ticket. Not blaming him for half empty arena syndrome, but he does play a small role in that. Bringing someone like Baz along for the ride gives the whole thing a 'small potatoes, hair metal has beens with visions of nostalgia' vibe and it turns people off.

This tour should be turned into an event, and bringing acts to the tour that people care about would be step 1.

I really hope this is a Canada only thing.

It could be just for Canada.  And if/when they tour the US they could still bring Baz along but take another more relevant band along like they did before with Papa Roach.

Does Canada care for Baz (one of their own)?  I wouldn't think he'd be turning off people in Canada from attending the shows.  They get 2 Canadian bands with Baz and Danko Jones, could be a selling point.

They're also saying this is NOT CONFIRMED over on HTGTH, whatever that does for you.
