Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
If Irving Azoff can't properly route a tour, then no one can. It seems a bit odd to me as well.
It's not odd at all.
They don't apparently have any problem with half-full venues. It'll just be like North America 2006, no different imo.
Alot of 20,000 seat venues, with 8,000 in attendence. Sunrise, sunset. It was GN'R in 2002. It was GN'R in 2006. It'll be GN'R in 2009.
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
I've been thinking all year that This I Love would make a great xmas single, if they dropped it with a good video (with snow) I reckon it would do pretty well.
My latest thoughts are TIL with Scraped as a B single, swiftly followed by a TWAT/IRS single, and then Catcher with ITW - get the fuckers out there by the end of the year and get them on the airwaves, I really think they'd do alright.

and about what buzzsaw said earlier, to those going to the shows, always, in the back of your mind, have the thought that it's possible your show is a no-show. you'll be less disappointed. not trying to bash the band because if i would have 3-4 gnr shows within 3 hours drive i'd buy tickets to all of them in a heartbeat, but i wouldn't get too pumped up until the man steps up on that stage. that feeling is part of the gnr world.
so, have a great show to those attending. can't wait for the bootlegs.
The Bell Centre holds 2100 people for Hockey games. But for a show. Not sure. The Coliseum in Moncton holds about 8000 people max.
bell centre holds 21,000 for hockey so it is a large arena.
As for a US tour, as I have always said 2000 to 5000 seat theatres with high quality acoustics are perfect for this band. Do a few arena shows in a few major markets-NY, Boston, Chicago....places where they have put more than 10,000 people in the seats on multiple occasions in 2002/2006.
Oops forgot a zero. I meant 21000. Sorry for the typo.
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
The shows in Alberta are gonna tank! They did not go over well at all in 2006. Everyone was pissed how late the band started, numerous complaints about Axl's vocals/mic levels especially in Calgary. In Edmonton the place was half empty by the time they played Paradise City. I don't see how these shows are gonna sell well at all. I know A LOT of people who went to those shows, myself included and in all honesty not one positve review have I heard. Playing Rexall and Saddledome if fucking stupid. This jackass of a band should check the ego at the door, play some 7500-10000 seat venues and blow the roof off those packed places rather than whimper through a set in a half empty arena. I just don't see these shows selling well and I don't see the appeal anymore. The SAME show as last time only with the possibility of a few more songs the majority of people in attendence won't know or care about. Sad. I for one will not be attending. Crazy how things have changed for me to where Gn'R can be playing two shows in my back yard basically and I have desire to attend.
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
what they should do in Alberta is play at the Enmax Centrium in Red Deer. It can hold about 9000 people for a concert and it looks just like a big time arena but a mini version. Would sooth Axl's ego cause he'd still be playing to a sell out in an arena. It'd draw people from Calgary and Edmonton. Motley Crue played RedDeer a few years ago and it knocked the shit outta the shows in Calgary and Edmonton. Tragically Hip play there and Bryan Adams has also played there. Keith Urban too. No reason Axl and his band couldn't play there.
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
Why would you care where they play if you wouldn't go regardless?
I agree there are more shows than I anticipated. I thought the fact they only scheduled 4 dates in Asia was a sign of things to come, ie. a limited schedule. I guess not though. I'd like to think they have a plan in place and will do something promotional wise to help push these shows. But I highly doubt it. Hope I'm wrong though.
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
The asia shows are only happening so they can have some warm up gigs and for re-shooting some scenes for the video, specifically some DJ shots and some shots of Asian people.... People won't care if they're not actually Chinese... Just Asian. You heard it here first.
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
I was joking. But I do think the Asian shows are warm up gigs. And it really wouldn't surprise me if they are shooting some scenes with DJ in a video and editting out Robin.
They should release Prostitute as a single, if they're going to release another one. I just don't see CD or Better getting re-released as singles.
