Re: Message to GNR fans asking about tour plans (from Ron):
The stalkers among us should keep an eye out on where other band members are claiming to be on twitter or wherever. If there seems to be a migration towards LA then it would seem rehearsals are on.

Yeah well DJ and Dizzy live in CA, right? So it wouldn't be anything new if they were in the area. Richard and Frank are playing some shows in NY this weekend I believe, we'll see where they go from there. Axl should be in CA too, but it's not certain he goes to rehearsals. Tommy and Chris pretty much keep to themselves, they're not tied into the twitter/facebook world that I know of.
Re: Message to GNR fans asking about tour plans (from Ron):
To be fair, I can see Axl's logic where he doesn't want to announce "they're thinking of touring" or "we're rehearsing because we might tour."
He does have a damned if I do damned if I don't conundrum. When he does announce that they're planning to do something and it doesn't work out he gets bashed, and if he doesn't talk he gets bashed. This is the way he works... Even though I don't agree with 100% of his silence, I understand it.
... to an extent. A shitload of bands know how to keep their fans up to date and not locked out with a level of interaction/communication (web updates, interviews), through their websites and shit. Even to just let them know they're still alive. Axl doesn't feel that way. He chooses to let jarmo and MYGNR, NEWGNR do that shit for him, and to an extent, Beta and Fernando. Which is a huge mistake.

Re: Message to GNR fans asking about tour plans (from Ron):
sounds to me like Ron got his ass handed to him by the 'CEO' for making the economy comment.
I think Ron must struggle with the issue of suddenly having thousands of fans after years in the shadows, being really grateful for it and really wanting to engage with them only to find his word is not welcome when it comes to the band he plays in.
I would hate to be in that band.
Being Ron must be like arriving into the tail end of what looked like an amazing party in an incredible location with the best drugs and tail money can buy only to find out the host who provided it all has had enough and is chucking everybody out. You can see from the shattered remains of the place that it must have been one hell of a shindig while it lasted.
Re: Message to GNR fans asking about tour plans (from Ron):
I just have to laugh...
Not sure if it's in pity for all involved, or for the completely comedic ways of how this management operates.
Here you got Japanese dates promoted on TV as far as I understand, and management cant pull themselves togheter enough to either confirm them or not confirm them.
As they are not uncomfirming them, they are 99% real. They just seem completely incapable of reacting to it. They might get away with this shit in 1987, but not in 2009.
I don't know if I could really care about any band that's run with mechanical precision though, since I'm pretty much a fuck-up myself.
Least no matter how much I get behind on a contract, or how badly I mess up a liason opportunity, I will always have my patron saints GnR wayy ahead of me taking decades to relase a single album, and announcing tours the lead singer says he didn't even know about.
And just like me, when we do finally hear about it, there were always what must have seemed like genuine reasons for what to the rest of the world just looks like... erm, being a tad out of touch.
This and Homer Simpson, makes me feel GOOOOOD!
