Re: Fernando's link to leaks? And the craziness that is gnr
Keith Richards 'tree fall' injury
Saturday, 29 April 2006Keith Richards has written some of the most famous guitar riffs in the world
Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has been taken to hospital in New Zealand after injuring himself while on holiday in Fiji.
A band spokeswoman said Richards had suffered "mild concussion" and was taken to hospital as a precaution.Media reports in Australia and New Zealand said Richards had hurt his head when he fell from a coconut tree.
The legendary musician is mid-way through a world tour with the famous British band.
The band most recently played in New Zealand and start the European leg of their tour in Barcelona next month.
"Following treatment locally and as a precautionary measure he flew to a hospital accompanied by his wife Patti for observation," the spokeswoman said.
New Zealand's Sunday Star Times reported that Richards was being treated in a hospital in Auckland and that he was conscious, mobile and had not undergone surgery.
The incident happened earlier this week but the 62-year-old rock star was taken to hospital on Saturday.
The spokeswoman said she did not know how the injury happened.
Re: Fernando's link to leaks? And the craziness that is gnr
let the wild ridiculous speculation begin....The Stones shows were CLEARLY cancelled solely due to Keith's head injury. The dead last thing a reunited Gnr would need to do is open for the Stones in Europe. A reunited original band would draw Stones money on their own in Europe.
Re: Fernando's link to leaks? And the craziness that is gnr
Maybe James is referring to the fact that back in 2006, none of us thought they would go on, and/or The Stones were confused as to which GN'R they were getting.
Zeppelin also threw offers at GN'R to open their shows... but they specifically asked for 'the real GNR'. I think they were talking to Slash, and he was like, "that ain't gonna happen".
So maybe it got misconstrued. Robert Plant, Mick Jagger... same difference.

TOTAL LOSS wrote:The track list was shifted and revised just prior to release. Truth be told, the album as intended was:
1. Chinese Democracy
2. Riad
3. Shackler's Revenge
4. Stardust
5. If The World
6. Better
7. This I Love
8. There Was A Time
9. The Lies They Tell
10. Sorry
11. I.R.S.
12. Madagascar
13. Prostitute*Catcher In The Rye was not going to be included.
Thanks for posting this, and I totally missed it 2 days ago when you first posted it.
That's an interesting track sequence. Not entirely different obviously, but its front loaded with the album's rockers, and This I Love is in an awkward position between Better and TWAT. Shackler's is already a flow killer, and placing Street of Dreams after it emphasizes that even more.
hey, first time poster (long time lurker). i agree it is an interesting running order and that it is front loaded with the rockers.
but so is appetite & the official CD (though Better/Stardust aren't exactly Riadh/Scraped they're still compact pop/rock songs as opposed to the expansive Sorry/Maddy/etc).
i think it helps the pacing of the album to get as many of the rockers thrown at us at the start (the first 4/5 of Appetite is the amongst the most attention smashing runs in any album).
i'm looking forward to burning a copy of this tracklist later.
i think the 1-2 of TIL/TWAT is an hilarious proposition. in fact, i think the way the songs are grouped read like they could tell the story of CD more coherantly - especially The Lies They Tell backed by Sorry (throu to the end of the album). excited to listen to it.
i was initially disappointed when i saw Catcher on the tracklist when it was first announced and would subscribe slightly to Neemo's theory about it being an album of leaks. saying that, i like the song much more now than it's leak.
interesting also that Prostitute was always to close.

I was excited to see Catcher on the list, it's a great song, the leak had me pumped to hear a non-hiss version of it!

IMO, there's no New GNR/Stones Conspiracy.
People looking for shit will find shit. Fact: GNR in 2006 was amazing. Any band should've been honored to share the bill with them.
Some of the opening acts weren't even honored to be on the bill with them. The industry views this as a joke just as much as the majority of the public does - maybe even moreso.

I'm sure I read an article in 2006 or 2007 that had quotes from Mick saying that he thought he was getting a reunited band and when he heard otherwise he was disappointed. Nothing about saying he didn't want the band there.
Not even sure if it was the 2006 shows or the rumoured Oct. 07 show, but I do remember reading something about it. I think I would've posted it on the old site.
In any event, I'm sure he and Keef would've been disappointed. They've endured their differences and are friendly to guys on both sides of the split.
