You could see it was in trouble when they put it all up for free on myspace and you could see the vastly decreasing play counts from track to track. I wonder how much they paid for that. Seems like they could've gotten money for the tracks if that's the route they would take.

The only time I remember CD having an uptick in sales since the release was the week they paid WWE to have it as the official song of their pay per view.

Just so, so incompetent. It wouldn't have taken a genius to promote this album and made some serious cash. I really figured money would've healed all the bad blood, bitterness, and chaos, but I guess not.

Axl might tell us that it was all the record company's ineptitude and "business as usual" mode, but he didn't do himself/them any favors.

Mick Wall said in his last interview that Axl was strapped for cash around 06, which is why he did those tours. I'm really starting to doubt those claims, especially in light of Axl's recent inaction.

Mick Wall is a COMPLETE idiot....now Axl may have funded cd with the 06 tour, but Axl isn't strapped for cash. Just a few years earlier he sold his publishing rights for 19 million plus his ongoing royalties from the back Gnr catalog. Seriously.....if Axl wasn't LOADED, he would have been pimping the shit out of Chinese (like you said at the end).

Madagas is right. The guy will never be broke. The old albums insure this. Adler will never be scrounging for pennies either, but people think Axl will? Please.

Now the other members of new GNR? That's an entirely different story. They wont be on welfare rolls anytime soon, but I doubt they're driving Ferraris and lighting Cuban cigars with hundred dollar bills.

Freese must be pretty well off and set for a while. He may only be a session guy but he plays in the big leauges.

Freese hasn't been in the band in a decade.......and I wouldn't consider him near as "well off" as Izzy, Axl, Slash, and Duff....and Trent for that matter.

I went into a Best Buy in Rhode Island today and finally found a store that had the sale price displayed with the GNR CD's.  Granted, it wasn't clearly visible, but it was there if you searched a little.  It said it only ran through 8/15 though, so looks like this was a one week sale, and it seems most stores didn't get the sale signs out at all.

Freese's credits- GNR, A Perfect Circle, NIN and now the drummer for Slash and Friends. He's set.

no----he is not set....that is why he has to continue to do all the session work he can. Now, I am sure he isn't broke and makes a very nice living compared to the guys in Gnr currently (outside of maybe Tommy), but he isn't "set". Axl is set. Trent is set. Slash is set....a session drummer and contract musician living in California is not set.

NEW YORK -- A Goldman Sachs analyst removed Best Buy Co. from a list of preferred stocks on Monday and said the electronics retailer faces stronger competition from online and mass market retailers.

Analyst Matthew J. Fassler removed Best Buy ( BBY - news - people ) from the Americas Buy List and now has a "Neutral" rating on the stock.

While the company will gain business from Circuit City  ( CC -  news  -  people ), which went bankrupt earlier this year, Fassler said competition will be significant starting in 2010, especially from online competitors, such as Amazon.com Inc.  ( AMZN -  news  -  people ), and mass market retailers. Wal-Mart Stores Inc.  ( WMT -  news  -  people ), for example, has upgraded its brands and presentation, Fassler said.

"Electronics are well-suited to e-commerce given their information intensity," Fassler wrote in a client note. "The Web is a good source of insight on new and complex products."

Fassler also said that Amazon prices its products competitively, especially in televisions when compared to Best Buy.

Fassler's price target is now $43, from $41 previously, which implies shares have room to rise 5.7 percent from Friday's close of $39.75.

Actually the Myspace hits pretty much jives with album sales: 4 million hits and about 4 million albums sold. I don't think they would have accomplished anything by not streaming it. If anything it probably helped.

And WWE pays for the music, not the other way around.

It really sucks seeing how much better this thing could've sold.
