Anybody remember the Best Buy promo vids? On 2 or 3 of them there was reference to 'History being made', which could allude, I suppose, to a 3 album release.
I wonder if a 3 disc release was at some point part of the plan?
Yeah the " album A, album B, album C" thing eluded to that when info started leaking on Best Buy's site, but when they finally unveiled the tracklist(in the wrong sequence I might add), fans were not impressed and it totally destroyed the impending excitement running through the veins of the fan base.
This thing was cluster fucked from the get go, starting with Best Buy announcing everything in such an amateurish fashion. It went from three potential albums, to three potential album covers with an incorrect track list, to two potential album covers with an incorrect track list, to one album with a correct track list, and for some reason all parties involved seem surprised they made no waves with this.
GNR commented on NOTHING during that week time frame.

The "true" Chinese Democracy is just the original played backwards with 17 additional guitarists, all trying to channel Slash or Buckethead, and failing.
I shudder when I think of how many out of tune, Finck inspired, musical abortions lay festering in some digital vault somewhere.
Axl didn't save some epic song for another release, we got what he had, sad, but true.

they were also claiming at one point in '06 (i think) that the plan was to have three albums ready so that they could release - tour - release - tour - release - tour in a span of 6 years. between that and the trilogy release it seems safe to bet that the material is there. plus with all money invested in paying the musicians to spend all of their down time in the studio for a decade there should be hundreds of songs (lyrics or not). my opinion is that the other material was held back for a later release by the label for whatever reason. i don't know that best buy ever intended on three different discs in '08. I think it was the covers the whole time that was being messed with and this was loosely confirmed by axl. the songs played for the best buy execs at that seminar were all off of the chinese democracy we got. had there been three albums that best buy was supposed to push we would have heard gnr songs on that phone recording that aren't on the cd we have today.
the latest push for a trilogy may have been management's/label's idea, knowing that the only way they could get axl to agree to a reunion was to get all of his "new gnr" work released first.

They've been talking about multiple albums for 10 years now.
"Guns N' Roses are preparing to end their lengthy silence, as they finish up work on two new studio albums, both of which are being produced by Sean Beavan and expected to be released simultaneously in October. The two, as yet untitled, albums feature the new line-up of vocalist Axl Rose, guitarists Robin Finck and Paul Huge, keyboard player Dizzy Reed, drummer Josh Freese and bassist Tommy Stinson. One source close to the band describes the new material as being, "Cleaner and fatter, but completely Guns N' Roses. Despite the rumours, there's no hint of any techno or industrial influences." maybe....the critical reception of CD wasnt that great but it did manage to clear the books...all that remains is whatever GnR still owes to Geffen on their current record deal
i think the ball is in Axl's court....but Geffen may be holding him hostage...IF they want old gnr to reunite and will not accept anything else....and if they hold the rights to any gnr and/or axl music releases then we may have to wait until either geffen or axl caves...or if axl has no desire to do anythign professionally then we may have t o wait until axl feels like releasing the rest of the new material....i think that there is definately more material...but i dunno when we'll see it, but i think we eventually will

You could see it was in trouble when they put it all up for free on myspace and you could see the vastly decreasing play counts from track to track. Each had significantly fewer than the last until there were several songs with very unimpressive play-counts even if ChiDem and Better had a ton of streams.
