Re: Frank played with Tool last night
bullshit, but it isn't worth arguing about....
check out what Rolling Stone had to say about the show and Frank....too funny.:haha:

"In a larger sense, all of this serves as an elaborate metaphor for emotional isolation — hardly the bread-and-butter of a festival set — but Tool’s knack for coiled tension somehow made the whole thing work. Near the end of the night they brought out session drummer Frank Ferrer — hardly anyone’s idea of a “surprise guest” — to provide auxiliary percussion on “Lateralus.” Ferrer has no bona fides to speak of, but his playing was fluid and potent — a fitting ending to a performance where the musicians seemed to be the least important element." :haha::haha:
Re: Frank played with Tool last night
go read some reviews, every night on the tour he's made a general smart ass comment about the guest drummer and his kit.
Re: Frank played with Tool last night
big deal....I thought the show was great and saw a similar show in Atlanta a few years ago. They did play three different songs this time. I enjoyed both shows immensely....get over it. The thread is more about Frank and my last post was about the Rolling Stone writer having no idea Frank was in Gnr. Frank did a great job on a great song in my opinion. If you have a bone to pick with Tool, the Gnr section isn't the place to do it.
Re: Frank played with Tool last night
RS's comment when discussing Frank is concrete proof of why the current line up isn't marketable, and I've always thought that played a role in how the album was rolled out.
We're lucky we even got the damn thing.
I'll half agree with you. They might not be marketable, but it doesn't help when there's no effort made to market yourself as the GNR drummer, bassist, etc. The only ones who've appeared to make an effort are Ron and DJ. While I would expect a rock journalist to at least know Frank is in GNR, I certainly wouldn't expect the average person to have any clue who he is. I think it shows that people even in the music journalist business don't care to go and seek out information about GNR when they aren't pushing anything themselves.
Re: Frank played with Tool last night
The unknown guys in the band cant market themselves as GNR because the media and public doesn't care about them. They are holding a double edged sword in their hands. The only people who care post on these sites, and they pretty much ignore us. If they bite the hand that feeds, do they really expect MORE hands to be stuck out?
Thats not how it works. If you shit where you eat, don't expect a journalist to bring you a lamb dinner.
I hope Stinson has a solo record in the pipeline. He does get media interest, and if/when promoting that record, they'll certainly ask him to go into detail about the record and what its like to currently be in the band.
Re: Frank played with Tool last night
I'll take it one step further. The media doesn't care about GNR in general right now, why would they? They're not doing anything. I will agree that even if they WERE touring though I highly doubt Tommy and Frank would be doing the Howard Stern Show like Steven and Duff did back in the day. So while it might be true that it's partially because of who's in or not in the band, it also has a lot to do with the fact that GNR is just not relevant anymore and they've put forth zero effort to change that fact.
Re: Frank played with Tool last night
Not that he'll say anything of any substance, BUT at least the Talking Metal guys want to talk to Frank. Who says he's not marketable?
