This wasn't geared as a GNR chat, no matter how much people want to believe or speculate.  It was a nice gesture made by DJ to spend time with HIS FANS.  Everyone in the chat, save for a few disgruntled GNR fans, were extremely appreciative.  He was very courteous, thanked everyone for coming, was polite, said he loved and appreciated all the GNR fans, even though many in there were doing their best to drive him away.  And he DID answer questions about GNR, just not the groundbreaking questions that some people for some strange reason thought he would.  He didn't dodge the subject completely.  He wasn't gonna speak for Axl or band management, but he spoke about his time in the band and the music.  He could've answered more but as I said before, the place was so chaotic, I'm surprised he stuck around as long as he did.

Anyway, I thougt it was a really nice gesture by DJ and think he's taking some completely unnecessary flak today.

Agreed. Its like Axl said “Hey join my band, bring an umbrella!!”

For the most part everyone here has been respectful to him and will reserve judgement until we see and hear him in action. The stick he is getting elsewhere baffles me, are these people just punk kids goofing off at computers in school thinking they are impressive by typing their snidey drivel?

DJ seems like a very decent and friendly down to earth kind of guy, with the chops for the job as well. I think he is a good addition to GNR and the fans could benefit from having someone with his personality onboard.
I hope he has thick skin though cause he'll fucking need it.

OK. I'll let loose with the REAL interesting stuff. I know a lot of people expected news from last night and I'll finally let it out now:

I had the Parmesan Chicken Tanglers & a couple Long Island Iced Teas. I can't really comment on how good to Tanglers were. I can say that I really enjoyed the Long Islands. They were some of the coolest, best Long Islands I've had in a really long time.

The Waitress was awesome. I was working on some ideas with her about dessert but nothing really came of it and in case something does, it's not my place to say just yet.

The people I went with were some of the best dining companions I've ever eaten with. I can't wait to dine elsewhere soon. Really looking forward to it!

4 additional pages just to say "yeah, we told you so".

This thread never deserved 9 pages.

The Chicken Tanglers do tho. Those sound good.

Back in the early/mid 90s when I was a drunk, I loved Long Island Iced Teas. Always looked older than my age, and when in Reno when I was 19, ordered Long Islands and Tom Collins all night while throwing quarters into the slots.

Reno has to be a drunk's wet dream. Free booze as long as you're spending money, regardless of how much it is. There's probably bums there who just act like they're playing slots in hopes of getting a drink.

You know, I've never understood the mindset of these casinos. Its clearly "give them all the booze they want for free so they'll spend more money". How do they know I'm gonna spend more money? When I have double- triple vision, that quarter might not make its way into the slot. In the off chance I get sick, I wont be spending money while hugging a toilet and promising the gods I'll never drink again unless there happens to be a slot machine next to the toilet paper.

Like you said, some of these places make the drinks really strong. Took my grandma once, and she wanted to go to Circus Circus and nowhere else, because in her words, "I like their drinks". 14

I prefer to bounce from casino to casino.

I don't even drink anymore, and if I ever relapse, it will be on a trip to either Reno or Vegas.

We got so ripped I could barely dress myself for the wedding! I still remember sitting on the bed looking into the mirror going "Holy shit, I can't tie my own tie!"

This reminds me of an incident when I was 16.

A bunch of us were at the lake. Me and a few others never even left the water. When we wanted a beer, someone would throw the beers out in the water. This went on all day long. Anyways, when we were about to go, I had to go to the bathroom. At some point, I lost my shoe. It literally vanished off the face of the earth. Needless to say, I wasn't leaving without that shoe. So a scavenger hunt ensued over this shoe. About an hour later(and after one car load of peeps already left), the shoe was found in the bathroom sink.

I'm going back to Vegas in August.  3rd trip this year.  I stay out of the expensive casinos and like the smaller places like russ mentioned.
