I think the name discussion is more relevant now than ever. It's at a point now where Axl has completely fucking trashed the name. The name is entering new teritory as a pop culture joke. Legacy's can only stand so much mockery. I honestly think for the first time ever an overwhelmingly HUGE majority of fans, casual and diehard, would seriously prefer he drop the name. Not only is he making himself look more and more like an ass each day he's devalueing the legacy and I dont mean in terms of dollars. I mean in terms of a new generation thinking Gn'R was cool. In fact what hes doen has made fans like me hesitant to even wear old Gn'R shirts. I knwo I'm not the only one who feels this way. Axl is a fucking egomaniac who is in absolute denial if he thinks he should be headlining arenas. If he's not mentally retarded he's using the logic that the name Guns N' Roses should be headlining arenas not his mock up fake ass brand of Guns n' Roses. That or he is in fact mentally retarded in thinking his vision can and should be headlining arenas and stadiums. What a meathead! he needs a bitch slap and needs it now. He needs to grow a set, man up and stop living his life based on Terri Clarks song Poor Poor Pitiful Me. He's an ass plain and simple. Seriously one of the biggest douchebags in music history.
a bit harsh on multiple fronts, but I agree that he should have dropped the name at whatever point over the last 10 years.

Even if you think Axl has ruined GNR and are embarassed by the current incarnation I don't think that should take away from whatever it was that you used to like about the band. Not even Axl can take away those memories. I'm quite certain if you wear your GNR t-shirts you'll have far more people make positive comments about the old times than negative ones about the present day. I don't think people are overly concerned with what Axl has done with GNR over the years. They could care less. As for GNR fans, obviously there is a fraction that would like him to drop the name. I don't think it's as large as you're making it out to be.
Honestly I could care less. I'm not worried about Axl tarnishing the name. It really doesn't effect my life all that much.

That's how relevant the new band is. Most people think they don't even exist anymore, don't know the story of the band past 1993, and when you say "Chinese Democracy", they go "huh? what?"

Who gives a shit? As long as you, me or whoever likes it does it really matter if anyone else you personally know owns it or not?
I don't care if Chinese Democracy would've sold one copy or hundered million copies, it wouldn't change how I feel about the record itself.
That same thing goes for how "relevant" the band is today...
I hate that word. If I like an artist or a band it doesn't matter how active they are or used to be.
It doesn't always have to be about this or that. Just enjoy what you've got and deal with it.

Exactly, none of my friends have bought an album of any sort in the last 10 years so the fact that people have never met anyone who bought "Chinese Democracy" doesn't resonate with me.
But I agree, most people don't realize or care what's going on with GNR in the present day. I've gotten over that though, and I'm fine with it. I love it, and that's all that matters to me. If I thought they sucked, then I'd have reason to be upset. Thankfully, it's all good on my end.

You may not care if GNR is relevant or not or doesn't sell. But if they don't sell albums or tix well you'll see GNR less and less. Oh wait sorry it won't change a thing since we don't see Axl anyways.
