Re: Twitter updates
500,000 old fans bought it in the US. They showed it to their friends. Like 6,000 of them felt it worth buying. Why? It's not about promotion, it's about people not liking it enough. I still haven't met anyone who bought it, although one of my friends (an old softcore fan) is thinking of buying it as soon as it gets cheaper.
I can't use my friends as examples because I don't think any of them have bought a CD PERIOD in the past 10 years. So it's tough for me to comment. I pushed it on my friends and none of them bought it, but as I said they haven't bought any CD's since the pre-downloading age.
I have played the CD a number of times for friends and people like at least a few songs. I had one friend who said he wasn't impressed with it, but his taste in music is not anywhere near mine so I can't say I was surprised.

I'm not sure what strong selling point ther was from the mainstream media aside from the "Rolling Stone" review. The best thing I heard on the radio, etc. was "it's actually not a bad album". Not exactly screaming "you must go out and by this album."
I don't know - I've seen countless threads where I've said the album was a failure and people have pointed to positive media reviews as proof that the music was good. I never called anybody on it because I assumed that such reviews actually existed. So were there positive media reviews or weren't there? If there were, then people were told. If there weren't then people were lying about it as false evidence of the quality of the album. Which is it?
Buzzsaw those reviews certainly DO exist. I could send a bunch of links your way if you want. My point is, who outside of these forums are going to read a positive review from various internet sites? I certainly don't go around searching for reviews of other bands CD's, I can't imagine others would. I brought up "Rolling Stone" because that's a pretty major music magazine and they gave CD 5 stars. Your average music fan might come across that one. But I doubt the average Joe would've done the research to find there were PLENTY of positive reviews out there. They'd rather listen to the Dick and Harry Morning Zoo and believe whatever they say. They make fun of Axl and refuse to play the new songs because "they suck", and the listeners buy into it.
OK - so people were told to like it and they didn't. So that squashes the theory tha it failed because people were not told to like it.
The music isn't that good. That doesn't mean everyone hates it and I'm glad you love it, but the music just isn't that good. No amount of PR by Axl can overcome that.

Uh, no that's not what I said at all. Where do you come to that conclusion? The positive reviews were out there for people to see. That doesn't mean the people actively searched for them. Again, I can't remember the last time I read a review for another CD. I don't expect people to scour the internet for CD reviews. The reviews weren't directly e-mailed to people, so how you come to the conclusion that they did read them and "were told to like it" is beyond me.

Do you really think that the general public didn't know CD was released? Really? For your sake, I hope not. It made the news even if it was as the butt of a joke, so people knew it was out there. If you don't think that people sought out reviews to see if it was any good, you're also kidding yourself. I would suspect the RS review was likely the most popular one and one of the most positive ones.
You can keep going on this if you want, but it's not going to work in your favor.
Re: Twitter updates
I've said multiple times I don't think people checked out reviews for CD. It's something I have never done and don't intend to do. I'll say it again for you. More than likely people heard some hilarious DJ take a shot at Axl on the air and that probably didn't help the situation. You have a lot of people who gave up on this saga YEARS ago and weren't going to buy it anyway, regardless of what the reviews said. If you want to believe that everyone held hands around the world and in unison listened to Chinese Democracy with an objective mind and only then decided, "this sucks!" then you're kidding yourself.
I love how at the end of your posts you have to point out how you're going to win the argument. Am I supposed to cower down and go hide in a corner now because the almighty and all knowing Buzzsaw has once again claimed himself as champion of a debate?

Quoting yourself I see. That's appropriate since you say the same things over and over anyways.

Re: Twitter updates
I would have to agree with Faldor with some of his points. None of my mates buy music or read reviews, mostly if they hear a song they like they download it from torrent sites (pirate motherf**kers) or a friend will give another friend it on a memory stick or something.
But then again i have to agree with Buzz because he is always correct..........and positive
Just kiddin
