A couple Chinese Democracy mentions from Baz and Jamey Jasta's twitter. Sounds like Baz has just gotten Jamey to give it a whirl.

Re: Twitter updates
lol, Baz sounds like a fanboy. People are entitled not to like it, doesnt mean they dont geddit.
I love his enthusiasm though. I agree with him to a point. Obviously not everyone was gonna like the album and those who don't are entitled to their opinion. BUT there's a reason the top of the charts is filled with crap these days. The dumbed down people, as Baz puts it, likes the manufactured rock, American idol pop crap, R&B, etc.
Obviously there are exceptions and bands like ACDC, Metallica, and recently Green Day have won the public over. But I will never understand how a band like Nickelback can be so successful these days.

because they are dumbed down, they are a relatively easy target, that is why all sorts crap gets sold to them....like Nickelback...
with a little bit of enthusiasm from Mr Rose, GNR could have been topping the charts in no time whatsoever....the general joe would have lapped it up if they were 'told" to do so...
they weren't, so they don't know what's good and what isn't...

I don't know if I'd quite go that far. A lot of people were going to be against this album and hate it regardless. But I do agree, if people were in a sense "told" it was good and they should like it, a lot more would've. I mean seriously that's the only explanation you can give for bands like Nickelback being as popular as they are. Sorry to bag on Nickelback so much, but I just think they're the perfect example. It pains me to see that album still in the top 15, and it was released right around the same time as CD. That makes zero sense,,, to me.
Re: Twitter updates
Yeah, the countless DJ's bashing Axl and new GNR over the years were really selling the album well. I'm not sure what strong selling point ther was from the mainstream media aside from the "Rolling Stone" review. The best thing I heard on the radio, etc. was "it's actually not a bad album". Not exactly screaming "you must go out and by this album."

I don't know - I've seen countless threads where I've said the album was a failure and people have pointed to positive media reviews as proof that the music was good. I never called anybody on it because I assumed that such reviews actually existed. So were there positive media reviews or weren't there? If there were, then people were told. If there weren't then people were lying about it as false evidence of the quality of the album. Which is it?
