Matt, Josh & Frank certaintly, and yes, even Brain is pretty much a session drummer.

The role of drummer is the least important role in GN'R, and has been pretty much since inception. There are no Roger Taylor's, Phil Collins', or Don Henley's here. Drummers that take an active role in being a member of the band.

There's no "probably" about it, Matt. Long time fans know he was the true essence of the band, and that it truly ceased being "real" GNR the nanosecond he walked out the door. All that was accomplished in his absence was finishing a long tour and a cover album, which more than half was recorded while he was still in the band.

I hate revisionist history regardless of the agenda behind it.

I got that far in this article before I gave up.  There's no probably about Izzy being a core member.  I would argue that when it came down to styling and writing, Izzy had more influence than Slash or Duff. 

Of course... Matt could be right since he was in the band.

Seeing as GNR had amazing touring numbers with Gilby supports the fact that yeah Izzy is a very important member, it wouldn't be a deal breaker if Izzy wasn't involved.
