Now that's bullcrap. Sellouts occur in cities like LA & NYC. I think SF also saw a good turnout.

Hitting South America is actually a smart and strategic move.

If they have an ounce of sanity, they'll start the tour in SA. Huge sold-out shows are guaranteed and it'd give them a chance to market themself for Europe and Asia/Australia, and in the end they might can book some shows in the US.

Thats why its a smart move. wink Its how to ride a wave of momentum. They know they cant immediately sell out shows here. However, they can in South America. Coast through a South American leg, then they(and the media) can use the "GNR, coming off a sold out tour in South America, have now announced dates in the U.S., Canada, blah blah blah buy your tickets now" story.

I still kick myself in the ass for not buying tickets to the Frisco show. I've always had a hard on for Arco Arena. I love the specific sound of the venue. Slayer destroyed that place in 1991. Other than GNR in 1991 and M.I.A. in 07, never had my ass kicked so hard as Slayer did in Arco.

That mosh pit was brutal. Security way too lax that night. When you're having to knock teen girls down(and men as well), its a sign someone needs to step in and restore order.

Anyways, I bought tickets to Arco, said 'Fuck frisco', and GNR added dates in Fresno and Bakersfield, which meant none of those three cities here in the valley would sell out. They got postponed, then canceled due to no one buying, yet Frisco sold out and they performed there. Not making that mistake again. Even with other bands. Santigold is kicking her tour off here in Cali, and I had the choice of SF or Sac. Picked Frisco, and now the Sac show isn't even showing up on Ticketmaster. 16

GNR want a sold out tour? Here it is.....

Los Angeles
San Francisco
Seattle
Las Vegas
Phoenix
Denver
Houston or Dallas
New Orleans
Chicago
Pittsburgh
Miami or Tampa
New York
Toronto

Thats it. No more than that. I realize key cities are missing, but a tour here needs to be a bit limited in scope. At most, add Detroit and Atlanta to the list. Those shows will sell out. Instead of adding three shows in the CA valley, add zero and it forces people to choose LA or Frisco(most will choose Frisco).

After that leg, hit Europe and/or Asia, go make up that date in South Africa, then come back here.

This band doesn't have to suffer from empty arena syndrome. Strategic planning will go a loooooong ways towards making a tour here a success.
