From the current issue of Rolling Stone Magazine

U2's next album - a sister release to No Line on the Horizon, a Zooropa to it's Achtung Baby, which the band plans to put out in the next year. Bono already knows the title - Songs of Ascent - and the first single, a surging anthem called "Every Breaking Wave" that was left off No Line at the last minute. Songs of Ascent will be quieter than No Line; in many ways,  it's that ghost album of hymns and Sufi singing. "We're making a kind of heartbreaker, a meditative, reflective piece of work, but not indulgent." Bono says. "It will all have a clear mood, like Kind of Blue. Or A Love Supreme would be a point of reference, for the space it occupies in people's lives, which is to say, with that album, I almost take my shoes off to listen to it."

What excites me most is they've talked so much about this "sister album" they almost have to release it, otherwise severly dissapoint the fans.

This is so fucking weird. I just popped into this thread again to see the sister album news, and guess what I'm importing into my iTunes as we speak? John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme." I haven't listened to it in ages and wanted to hear it again.

To go a bit off topic, A Love Supreme is, to me, one of the greatest jazz albums ever recorded. Perhaps greatest album ever recorded, but you have to be a jazz fan to feel that way. Even if you don't love jazz, everyone owes it to themselves to at least listen to it. It takes you places, and not much music has the ability to do that.

WOOOOOO!!!!!!!    I got my tickets!!!!   9:mosh::mosh:

2 General Admision tickets:

@ Rogers Center in Toronto - September 16th; cost - $142.50
@ Giants Stadium in New York - September 24th; cost - $140.40

I'm so pumped up.  less than $300 for 4 GA tickets. Anyone who says U2 rips off the fans is on crack!  Woooo!!!!

I had to pass on Chicago and Boston. Just wasn't doable right now with the finances.  Plus they'll be hitting Vancouver at the end of October which I plan to attend and then they'll be back in NA in 2010 and I plan to go to Ireland next year as well so.  I had to tone it down if I plan on seeing them next year as well.

I'm expecting a Frisco date to be added at some point. They usually hit the Bay Area.

Haven't lived in the '4 state area' in over 10 years, but Norman is a bizarre choice for that area. Gonna assume they are playing in a college stadium. If not, its a club show between stadium dates.
