Hidden Text:I saw it, its ok. Felt its kinda about the same as the first one, good but not great. I feel she's a great 'story' & inspiration to girls, but the films & screenplay just can't ever make it work. Installment 3 if they make it (likely will I'd guess) needs an epic treatment. Like TDK, make it dark & epic saga.
As for WW84, I felt 80s theme fluctuated off & on a bit, didn't feel like it took place in the 80s the entire film, seemed kinda halfassed only in certain scenes. I didn't read that into it for your first spoiler, the second, yeah that seemed kinda thrown into it towards the end? Wasn't like Black Panther of an over-arching storyline theme of 'badness out there'.
Anyway I do like HBOMax alot. I watched Batman 89, man, that's a classic. I was always a fan but its been decades I think since I saw it. That said, I do sorta agree TDK is better, but Tim Burton & Jack Nicholson really raised the bar on expectations to live up to with Batman.
I'm not sure the whole DC Universe is gonna work out as well as Marvel. I feel DC storylines are better with Good guy/bad guy near standalone films. Like Batman & Spiderman or the 90s & 2000s etc. Trying to morph into MCU I'm not sure it's working.
Oh, I saw Joker. Wow!! I liked it alot, and didn't really think I would. Having said that tho, it sorta seemed like they took an indie script akin to Fight Club or Taxi Driver, and slapped on the Joker brand and snuck in him being Joker towards the end of it. Sortof ashame for younger people they don't get those generational movies anymore, it's all Marvel & comic books, or stupid comedies.
You should watch the ultimate edition of Batman v Superman on hbo max. Best superhero film of all time in my opinion.

Soul. Really good.
But if anyone thinks theaters are going to be replaced by streaming is fooling themselves. This deserved to be seen in a theater, and there's a huge difference. I was pretty indifferent about the debqte, but yeah, people want to get out of the house, and movies should feel like an event again. Streaming can't replace or replicate that. I missed the trailers, the smell of popcorn, the big screen, and ambiance. And I missed the Pixar short.
Soul is indeed excellent. The animation in this one is incredible. Some of it looks like live-action. Pixar is so good at the storytelling and the production.
You’re right, though. This should have been a holiday theater experience with families.
Man, I miss life.

Agreed.
Nice to see some love for it too as a lot of the internet doesn't seem to like it.
I was skeptical when they originally announced the project as I don't tend to like crossover films in general, but damn the Affleck Batman was so perfectly done - really nailed the feel of an angry batman from some of the comics I read as a kid - and then the way Snyder made everything look was astounding.
I loved the whole thing, surprising too cos I already have a soft spot for TDK and the burton movies so i wasn't expecting someone to redefine my preferred batman for me at all. But it became my favourite comic movie and one of my favourite films overall I'd say too.
Re: Most Recent Movie You've Seen
Thanks, I'll check it out. Saw it on there & considered watching it, it's one of the few Batmans I haven't seen. Heard mixed things about Affleck in it. Mostly seemed he was good in it, just didn't want a 3 installment reboot of him as it. Will prolly watch this weekend at some point if I can.

Casino - This ages like wine. Sharon Stone's performance also gets better with time.
12 Monkeys - Amazing. You rarely hear about this anymore. It's probably the best time travel movie ever made. It also might be Pitt's best performance... although Kalifornia is definitely in the running.
Crimson Tide - I wish they still made movies like this. It's got everything...drama, suspense, comedy...and a great cast.
Re: Most Recent Movie You've Seen
Time for some really obscure film reviews.
The Frontier--neo noir with Kelly Lynch; people end up double crossing each other and really the Southwest is the perfect backdrop for this definitely has a 70s feel to it. Acting isn't the best so it's also got a "B movie" vibe to it. But I liked it.
Der Fan: this is one listed as horror. It's more psychological thriller/coming of age movie. If you read the summary it's sounds like a typical "stalker" film but I think it's wrong to pigeonhole it as that. Also, has an 80s German new wave soundtrack.
On Kalifornia, I saw that this year at some point. Agreed Pitt is great. So is the rest of the cast. I thought Michelle Forbes stood out. Too bad she's more known as the "Big Salad" lady on Seinfeld.
Re: Most Recent Movie You've Seen
Alien holds up really well. That's a great movie. I was never a huge fan but that might a leaped into my Top 20. Also watched Top Gun, haha, so cheesy. Never liked it, still don't, but man, Tom Cruise makes some great fuckin blockbusters. The guy brings in bank. Top Gun 2 does look pretty good imho, I'm sure its still that Tom Cruise corny but the plane effects & scenery could be beautiful in a theater.
Re: Most Recent Movie You've Seen
Only thing I liked about Top Gun was Danger Zone. I should probably watch it again... haven't seen it in many years.
Another Cruise film I need to give another shot is Days of Thunder.
I'm definitely gonna watch that new Top Gun but I'm hoping that Cruise sticks to doing MI films for the next few years. He's filming them back to back right now....but we need a couple more after that.
He's not getting any younger and won't be able to pull it off indefinitely.
