Although it took more than a decade — 13 years, to be exact — for GUNS N' ROSES to release its "Chinese Democracy" album in 2008, the follow-up to that effort may come sooner than anyone thinks. Ashba said in an interview at this month's launch party for the "Call Of Duty: Black Ops" video game that the band is "talking about that right now. We've been throwing around a bunch of ideas and it should be good, man. We've got a lot of good stuff on the plate coming out. It won't take as long, I promise." Ashba added, "I'm excited to get this next one rolling . . . Axl [Rose, lead singer] has a lot of good shit up his sleeve, so I'm really excited about it."
In addition to Ashba, Thal, Reed and sole original member Rose, the current lineup of GUNS N' ROSES includes guitarist Richard Fortus, bassist Tommy Stinson, keyboardist Chris Pitman and drummer Frank Ferrer.

GUNS N' ROSES' Late Concert Finish Leaves Townsville Residents Fuming - Dec. 2, 2010
Townsville, Australia newspaper Townsville Bulletin was inundated with calls and texts earlier today (Thursday, December 2) from residents near the town's Reid Park who were frustrated by the noise and late finish of the GUNS N' ROSES concert.
Hermit Park resident Mike Shearer told the paper he was forced to turn up his television as the band's music dominated his lounge room on Wednesday night.
"It was far too noisy and it went well outside the time it was meant to go," Shearer said.
"If that concert was being held in my neighbor's place, the police would have confiscated the hi-fi set, so why should they get away with it in Reid Park?"
A Townsville City Council spokesman told the Townsville Bulletin before the concert promoters were licensed to continue the show until 10:45 p.m. and council and Liquor Licensing would monitor noise levels.
"GUNS N' ROSES came on late and the concert ran late which is a concern to us and something we will talk to promoters about, as it is not fair for residents on a midweek event," Mayor Les Tyrell said.
"The remainder of the feedback has been positive, with most people generally happy with traffic management, amenities and the state of the venue."
GUNS N' ROSES took to the stage more than an hour late.

GNR win over restless fans
BARBARA LYNCH | December 2nd, 2010
MORE than 16,000 fans were screaming for rock band Guns N' Roses' blood when they were a no-show more than an hour after they were meant to hit the Reid Park Stage last night.
Fans were chanting ``bull****'' and ``go back to America'' as they waited for the legendary rock band to front the crowd.
But all their frustrations melted away after the Gunners burst before them amid six massive screens and a pyrotechnic display.
Front man Axl Rose wore sunglasses and a leather jacket as he arrived on stage, oblivious to the crowd's boos and heckles moments before.
DJ Ashba teased the crowd with an electric guitar intro to fan favourite Welcome to the Jungle.
It's been 25 years since Axl first wowed audiences with his face-melting riffs, but last night's concert showed he has still got the rock star antics he is renowned for.
While fans looked like they were heading towards the exits before the Gunners experience hit the stage, it quickly became apparent they were only headed to the bar as the pyrotechnic display kept them enthralled throughout the entire night.
While a sea of fans in black Guns N' Roses shirts throbbed to the sound of the Gunners' classics, last night's concert wasn't just for the diehard fans.
Mikayla Finocchiaro, 20, from Kelso has listened to GNR for the past six years and jumped at the chance to see them live.
Welcome to the Jungle is her favourite song and said Townsville radio stations had played the band's music for the past few weeks, which got her excited about the concert.
Supports Shihad are her uncle's favourite, while her brother and his girlfriend like KoRn.
Fifty-seven-year old Len Phillips was supposed to go to the concert with his sister Suzie, who lives on the Sunshine Coast, but a family birthday meant she couldn't attend.
Len held up his phone for her to listen to her favourite song Sweet Child O Mine.
The Kirwan resident said he would watch more big concerts in North Queensland.
``I think were getting our fair share of acts in Townsville though,'' he said.
People were reliving their youth during last night's concert.
Whether they grew up with the Gunners, KoRn or New Zealand's Shihad, they all came together with a mutual appreciation for the music.
Paul Musgrove from The Strand and his girlfriend Ingrid only realised on Saturday they both loved GNR.
``It was a spur of the moment thing. We were watching a music special on Guns N' Roses and we decided to go to the concert,'' Mr Musgrove said. ``To have Guns N' Roses here is something special.''
The pair travelled to Melbourne earlier this year to see AC/DC

Specialist police called in for Aussie Guns n' Roses gig
Perth, Australia officials have drafted in specialist police and extra security for Guns n’ Roses’ December gig at the Kwinana Motorplex to avoid another clash of biker gangs. Three rival groups turned last week's Harley Street Bike Drags at the venue into a horror show when they fought over territory and pride.
Families watched on as the violence escalated before extra police arrived at the Motorplex to stop the trouble.
One gang member reportedly had three fingers severed and another was shot. Several other bikers checked into local hospitals with more minor injuries.
As a result of the trouble, Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams has instructed police and promoters to get together and come up with a plan of action to make sure the Guns N' Roses show on December 11 is as secure as possible.
She tells the Perth Now newspaper, "I think it would be prudent for police to maintain a presence in light of what has happened. I can only anticipate that Guns N' Roses would attract a wide range of people, but they may well be a band that also attracts a lot of bikies.
"We would certainly be asking for extra security just to ensure that, if people are attending the event for reasons other than wanting to enjoy a good band, then steps would need to be in place to ensure they are turned away from the venue.
"I will be asking our council to liaise with the event manager and the local police to seek a reassurance that an incident of this nature doesn't happen again, predominantly through upgraded security."
According to the publication, councillors are calling for specialist gang crime police and extra security to patrol the show.

During the encore break there was a huge guns n' roses chant. Bumblefoot got the crowd going with an "aussie, aussie, aussie" chant.

Last Night the wait was literally over, Guns n`Roses was a blast at the Sydney ANZ staidum. The Band started playing around 8.40, with not major delays (only 15 minutes late!).
Axl rose demostrated he still has what it takes to keep rocking, putting an energetic show for almost 2 and a half hours. The crowd went mad specially after finishing the opening song “Chinese Democracy”, when AXl said “We`re at the Jungle Baby”…and the first notes for Welcome to the Jungle came…
The new band members DJ Ashba, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, Richard Fortus, Tommy Stinson, Dizzy “F***in” Reed and Frank Ferrer did their best, runing around the stage, playing solos and interacting with the crowd in a great way!
An epic hightlight of the venue was when the band played ACDC`s “Whole Lotta Rosie”
As a Bonus enjoy below the epic epilogue of the night! Guns n`Roses Paradise City at Sydney`s ANZ Stadium

Setlist notes:
Very energetic show and loud crowd. Before 'this I love' Axl mentions, like the previous show in France, that this song was written in France. After 'Street of dreams' Axl jumps off the piano and falls, he then sings the end of the song lying on the ground. Later he jokingly said "it was either that or falling here" (pointing over the railing of the stage). During the pink floyd band jam both Axl and the crowd sing along.
During 'knockin' on heaven's door' Axl ask the crowd if they can sing louder than they did back in 2006.
DJ Ashba plays part of 'nightrain' in the crowd.

Bumblefoot interview
Interview courtesy of TC Electronic. Scroll to the bottom for a video taking us through Ron’s rig.
http://www.bumblefoot.com/press/2010120 … 8UK%29.htm
Ron Thal, aka Bumblefoot, started playing the guitar at age 6 after hearing the Kiss Alive! album. That was some 35 years ago, and since then, he just continued to play, start bands, write music, make demos, play gigs, teach, build his own guitars, engineer and produce other bands. In fact, he has been releasing music for 20 years, and he is now one of the guitarists in the legendary rock band Guns N’ Roses.
“When I’m touring with Guns N’ Roses, I use my trusty Nova System for all my guitar effects. In fact, the only additional piece of effects gear I use is a wah-pedal,” Ron says.
“When I was preparing for the Guns N’ Roses tour in 2009, I set out to build the ultimate FX-board, so I tried out every stomp-box and multi-FX board i could get my hands on over a couple of months, and it turned out that Nova System had exactly what I wanted and needed. Also, Nova System hasn’t changed the way I work, and that’s a huge compliment!
“In the past, I was using digital amps with built-in effects, and I was constantly changing all my gear. Then, I switched to tube amps and needed something that would give me all the effects I was used to with easy access. Fortunately, I was able to adapt to the Nova System very quickly. No awkward adjustments, so I was able to get right back to doing what I do. I plug into the amp, have a wah-pedal and the Nova System in the FX Loop of the amp, a MIDI floorboard to switch presets and an expression pedal connected. That’s it!
“The one thing I like the most? It was Nova System’s compressor that won me over. You can get the release to snap back at such a fast rate – faster than any other gear I checked out.
“None of the other analog or digital stomp-boxes or multi-FX rack gear had the control like Nova System. Instead of using the ‘Boost’ button for solos, I like to boost by hitting the compressor. With a little gain and a very fast attack and release, all the notes are pulled forward and more ‘in your face’.
“It’s great for keeping consistent levels between picking and tapping, especially with Guns N’ Roses where there’s three guitarists, bass, two keyboardists, drums, vocals, loops, etc… When it’s my turn to step forward, Nova System makes it happen.”
“As for my approach to playing, writing and producing music, it’s really pretty simple: Don’t overthink it. Whatever you’re working on – songwriting, gigging, laying guitar tracks, mixing a song – trust your instincts, trust your gut. It’s so easy to think yourself into an unproductive mental place, don’t take it that far – if it sounds good, if it feels right, go with it!”
