Re: STP postpone US tour
Yeah but addiction/dependency is alot of times personal. And it can be personal.
Scott seems to go out of his way to make it everyone else's fucking problem. Addiction can't always be blamed for Scott. He's either fucking crazy and that's where the irrationality comes in, or he's just a dick. But he can't blame substances forever for every single thing that goes wrong in his life.

It's a never ending cycle. The addict always places conditions on it. These are always unattainable as even if the addict meets one of his conditions, he/she creates a new set of them. The only thing different from Weiland and the average drug addict is he's a celebrity and the whole world gets to witness the downfall.
To quit taking pain pills I have seriously considered switching back to coke or meth temporarily to get me through the withdrawals. Even if taking such a drastic measure, I'd just be wired while taking pain pills. You just run through a list of excuses til they run out, and they never run out. Its one of the few things the universe creates an infinite supply of.
Re: STP postpone US tour
Well and you have to want to quit. I don't get that from Weiland. I've been there too in that moment where you take something, you fucking love it, and you never want to let go of it. It doesn't matter that you spend all your time locked away in a room doping again after the previous pills wear off. It doesn't matter that the world starts passing you by. It doesn't matter how much of your life erodes away. The only thing important is being right there, living in the high. It's a helluva place to be. No lie.
That's why you have to WANT out of it. You can't want the drug, but FEEL you need out of it. Otherwise you'll just bury yourself in deeper.
James, have you ever thought about phasing out with lower and lower dosages of Methadone? The withdrawals from that can be tough, but then again I don't know the kind of tonnage your into. There's a habit, and then there's a Haim-habit, you know.
There's also that catch 22 of getting off pain pills with other pain pills.

March 19 - Festival Hall, Melbourne, AUS (all ages)

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS drummer Eric Kretz told the Ventura County Star that the band has already started working on a new album less than a year after the release of its self-titled sixth studio effort. Kretz said to the newspaper, "We took quite a long hiatus (from the studio) and then we started touring for about nine months straight. It was just a natural progression to say, 'Let's jump back in and go back in the studio and continue the writing thing.'" Kretz added that fans can expect the record "very soon" but did not offer any specific release plans.
Kretz also said that having enough songs for an album is not a problem, explaining, "There is never a shortage of material. It's just a matter of sifting through it and working with everyone's schedule."
STP released its sixth album earlier this year after a nine-year break from the studio. The band's last effort before that, "Shangri-La-Dee-Da", came out in 2001.
The quartet reunited in 2008 for a successful world tour following a six-year hiatus.
Kretz said that the group hopes to get its new album out sometime next year and is also "looking at . . . trying new ideas of how to present music, especially for downloading."
