There are some dangerous elements involved here....

Axl Rose and his out of touch sense of reality, always coming just too late for his own show.

The mob mentality of people, either influenced by drugs, alcohol or simply by the media, willing to take matters into their own hands.

Add all those side-elements to that, and you have things which doesn't combine or work together.

ya know...all this water bottle talk has reminded me of a festival i went to in 1997...edgefest in molson park in Barrie, Ont, Canada...anyway just as canadian band The Tea Party went on nearly everyone in the park...like 40-50000 people started throwing water bottles into the air, cuz the festival organizers had the bright idea of making everyone pay for water. that was the only way you could get a drink of water was to buy a bottle...anyway like prolly half the place starts chucking bottles into the air...it was a fucking zoo...anyway it was one of the neatest things i've ever witnessed, being all chemically intoxicated and all, the singer says something like stop throwing the bottles or soemthing and then they go into their next song and that was it

anyway carry on

I disagree with you guys about the way Homme handled it, I think that was the wrong way as well. He shoulda said, hey kid don't be a dick do it again and we'll need to have security take you home. Not verbally castrate the kid, all that's doing is bullying the guy. Sure he's a dick, he's also a dumb kid. Getting a whole crowd to go along with you and hate on him just cause your pissed off is the wrong way to go about it. Axl, although going off stage was probably not the best idea, had the best idea in that at least in the video he talked to the crowd quite calmly.

In a way I agree.  Things could've gotten out of hand.  Some hardcore supporter of Josh's could've kicked that kid's ass and started a mini riot because Josh was basically saying he wanted the kid pummeled.  BUT, security did get involved quickly and escorted him from the venue, so it all worked out in the end.

And that's a good point about Axl talking to the crowd.  He gave them a warning, which he has done before.  Before the warning has worked.  It didn't the other night.  People kept hurling shit at the stage.  Does he need to treat the crowd like children and give them 3 strikes?  "I warned you once already.  Now if you throw one more thing up onstage, YOU'RE GROUNDED!"

One more note on that Pearl Jam clip.  They did that same thing in Hartford this year when I saw them, playing the last few songs after the house lights went on.  He didn't pop open a bottle of wine though.  Don't get me wrong, it was cool as hell, just not as spontaneous as one might think.

And I kind of liked Daphne and Celeste, from what I could tell.  I wouldn't mind seeing them open for GNR.  Am I alone here?

Good point about the Euro fanbase James.  Everyone was under the impression that the band could get away with touring in Europe, as they were more accepting.  I always thought that was grossly exaggerated.  I can't see how things could go any worse if they toured the US.

I still don't truly understand exactly why things have changed so much since 2006.  People didn't get THAT upset then and the same things are going on now and all chaos is breaking loose.  Again, the massive negative media attention from Reading/Leeds had to add fuel to the fire.  That's the only explanation I can see.  And they said there's no such thing as bad press.  They were wrong.

Well like I said, people are finally getting sick of it. It happens with more and more people and now entire crowds are starting to turn on them. Doesn't matter whether someone thinks its mob mentality or not. It's obviously a real problem and a pattern is developing.

If he loses Europe, it's over. What's he gonna do, keep bringing this rotating AFD shindig to South America over and over again? Shit, they'll dismantle that statue of Jesus and start pelting them with it piece by piece.

We're reaching the point where the hated "reunionists" are right.....

Gonna make people wait hours on end, Europeans sleeping on the street just cause they want to hear Jungle, etc.?

Time to bring the real thing back and get that top hat wearing, chain smoking motherfucker back onstage. People aren't gonna crawl across broken glass for imitations anymore.  Europe was new GNR's bread and butter which is quickly turning into burnt toast. If this keeps up, there's just no way this tour is gonna last.

Either move on or reunite. This middle ground shit isn't cutting the mustard. The Slash chants are back for a reason.

Bump in the road my ass. Name one other artist/band to experience a similar "bump".

Its been said before but needs saying again....

The housekeepers and faux journalists/"road managers" need to go back home and let some professionals operate this shindig before Axl/GNR get run completely into the ground. He pulls this crap here in the States, its over before it even starts.

maybe i am an asshole  but u give me millions of dollars, fame and the ability for my music to be heard and me the opportunity to play for thousands of people.... people can hit me with fucking bags of shit.........

turn on the houselights, communicate, explain the dangers of bottle throwing and ask the crowd to point out anyone they see doing it.

guarantee that would've stopped it.
