Re: GNR Rumoured To Play in Sydney Australia December 2010
Hmmm.. Kinda wierd to see them mention Tracii Guns and Rob Gardner as original members. And mention specificly that Slash and Adler came in as replacements.
Yeah, I know it's correct, but it's just strange to see it mentioned in connection with a gig.
"Originating in Los Angeles in June 1985, Guns N' Roses' originally was formed by singer Axl Rose, guitarist Tracii Guns, guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Robbie Gardner, The name was derived from a combination of Tracii Guns and Axl Rose's pseudonymous last names. Shortly after inception guitarist Slash and drummer Stephen Adler replaced Guns and Gardner."

Maybe they're trying to convince people that there was a rotating lineup right from the start, so people shouldn't get to attached to the fact that thus lineup that will be touring is different as well.
It's also a strange write up in that CD doesn't get much of a mention either, it's more of a footnote at the end.
Re: GNR Rumoured To Play in Sydney Australia December 2010
Aussie wrote:Unless this is some sort of an attempt to drum up some additional publicity - WTF? There was nothing negative in those quotes - quite the opposite in fact.
One thing I've noticed is that I think they changed the background blurb about the band that was on the offical supercars site.
It was surprising in the first place it had some strange stuff - including comments from whoever wrote it that the 2002 tour had gone bad, and a surprising amount of info about Slash and VR considering this band does not feature them, it almost made it sound like it did somehow.
If Axl made a complaint, I wouldn't be surprised if it related to that stuff...as it read like it was lifted from wikipedia or something and not at all like the promo stuff should be like.
It is a little strange for Axl to demand the withdrawal of his quotes but obviously there's no love lost between him and the media. So if he didn't say those things, I suppose it's within his rights to say so. I understand they were just a few "positive" comments. But maybe he just wants it to be known, he wasn't interviewed. Remember that supposed interview he gave to that South Korean paper? Didn't he say how he'd be open to a reunion or something like that? HE never shot that down to my knowledge but Fernando, Jarmo, etc. vehemently did. Hell, DJ even posted the article on his own site because Axl spoke highly of him in it. So maybe he's just getting ahead of this one and letting it be known outright that he never said those things.
Maybe it was the "he's open to playing more shows" part? So fans don't get their hopes up? Because I thought when I read that, there would surely be more shows to follow.
Re: GNR Rumoured To Play in Sydney Australia December 2010
Maybe Axl is just crazy.
MAYBE???
I think that's been established.
Honestly though, I don't see this being as big a deal as some are making it out to be. He didn't say those things, so he's just letting that be known. Regardless of WHAT he didn't say and the fact that there was nothing bad attributed to him. He didn't say them, and that's that.

Yeah I think Axl's in the right on this one, if they made up quotes and attributed them to him, well that's not only manipulative of the general community but shoddy journalism as well.
It might have been semi-harmless stuff, but it's the principle...I wouldn't want people quoting me as saying shit I didn't say either.
