would Slash want to play on the likes of Better or TWAT? Especially if he was promoting a record that he had no part in making...
He played STP stuff in VR..so, why not. In theory if it ever got that far then I dont think he`d be a dick about it, he`d have a go and maybe put his stamp on it in some way..

with all of the road blocks CD encountered perhaps Robin saw the reunion talk as the final nail in the cd coffin and so he left. if a reunion was really in the works, perhaps there was a push to disregard cd in favor of the reunion and that was a deal breaker for axl.

Does it really matter? Whatever happened behind the scenes happened years ago. I guess it's interesting if they really got close, but it's all speculation. I've never written off a reunion regardless of what has been said, nor am I expecting one. As long as they are still alive, it's a possibility. No public statements to the contrary are going to change that. The money will always make it possible.

Or like Pink Floyd, if they were brought together for a good cause it would probably happen
