Re: Coco heads to TBS
Max is doubly-blessed by being a lifetime member of the E Street Band and gaining personal fame as Conan's second. Hell, Conan even arranged Max to go on tour with the Boss, which itself cut down some of Max's Tonight Show appearances. Going with Leno would go against the principles which Max has seemingly adopted in the past years and would make the drum stool a bittersweet hot-seat.
Time wiill tell, but it would be very low for Max to do it now, given he already got the experience (even if it was short-lived), so there's nothing new there. Not to mention the public support Conan's been receiving; Max could easily be painted as a Judas Iscariot by joining forces with the Evil One, which is Leno.

Maybe there was SOMETHING to the Max Weinberg talk after all.

Conan O`Brien Dumps Max Weinberg
by Paul Cashmere - April 30 2010
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg has been let go from the Conan O`Brien show it has been reported.
Music veteran Al Kooper spilled the beans about Weinberg in an interview with Rick Mason.
During the interview, when asked about Conan and Max, Kooper said, 'There'™s a name you can'™t say anymore. He's not in that band anymore' .
When questioned further by Mason, Kooper answered, 'They let him go. This is a big transition, and they're all signing new contracts and everything so they replaced him, as far as I know."
Kooper suggested the departure was mutual to allow Weinberg to spend more time with the E Street Band, an interesting take considering the E Street Band are taking the next two years off.
At this stage there has been no official word on the departure from either Weinberg or O'™Brien.
