Re: Leeds, United Kingdom - August 29, 2010 (Leeds Festival)
Who knows, maybe the band is actually taking a stand against Axl.
You want to see something bad ass rock n' roll... the entire band shows up tomorrow, sans Axl, and performs as Guns N' Roses with Tommy on vocals.
Now THAT would be cool.
Better yet, break out stuff they haven't played live whether it be unreleased stuff or more UYI stuff.
Re: Leeds, United Kingdom - August 29, 2010 (Leeds Festival)
Tommy's response to a fan giving the band shit about coming on late was: Blablablablablablablablabla.
That kind of shocked me. And I don't think its anyone protecting their paychecks, either. It feels like a mutual mindset.
Tommy spoke about the late starts in his interview with WMMR. Saying, you don't want Axl to go on until he's ready. Whether YOU, as a fan, agree with that or not, it appears most, if not ALL of the band does, so DEAL WITH IT!

Fucking rights it would be!
I don't see that happening. Everyone in the band seems to be supporting Axl 100% of the way, despite what you want to believe.

Yes. But Tommy is a long-time friend of over 10 years. I think they're taking his side, most likely coz they don't have all the information. Or maybe he knows something we don't. If they can prove that they were late due to a factor out of their reach, then I'll backtrack my statement. Only, they don't seem very interested or willing to prove it.
And like monkey says, it's about that old fashioned rebel rock n roller thing.

It's an old school rebel attitude I think.
I don't buy their rebel bullshit.
Axl parades @ MTV Awards, that's not rebel at all. (Not to mention that he wasn't late @ the 2002 VMAs.) Playing the same songs in the same order every night isn't rebellious. Taking 14 million bucks from the record company isn't that. Suing every second person you met in your life isn't that. Blaming the whole world for your own fuck-ups...well, that's not rebellious either. Having a mile road demand from the promoters to guarantee your luxury isn't very rebel. Buying paintings and cars and then not pay for it, isn't rebellious.
It's not the rebel attitute that Axl has - it's the paranoid, childish, hysterical, primadonna, dictator attitute of his, cause he thinks the whole world revolves around him, and all the other billion people on Earth should be Jarmos and Betas.

Amen! Axl likes to have the nutswingers believe he is this big rebel. Pfff! He is childish that's what he is. Like Mikka said had he been a true rebel he would NOT have paraded on MTV. Anyways not sure what is going on. Is the show in Leed on or not? Don't know don't care. Didn't bother watching the whole video or bothered to read why they cancelled the show. To me this is just typical Axl shit and no matter how you twist this that kind of shit AIN'T cool. So that part of Axl I just don't bother with anymore. Cancelling shows just cause is not rebel it's plain stupid.

No one knows if the show is on or not. GNR management have decided that theres no need for a press release on the matter. Their verdict is that it's better to let the fans hang in doubt rather than settle it.

Re: Leeds, United Kingdom - August 29, 2010 (Leeds Festival)
It's a lose-lose situation for Axl and their silence makes it even more disturbing. If he goes on stage, he himself proved again in 48 hours that his words don't mean shit, as his mood changes with the wind.
If he's late again, then he won't get ANY extra minute from the organizers. A riot could take place quickly, if he goes on a rant on stage, not to mention that he'll have problems with playing festivals in Europe in the next years.
If he hits the stage on time, then he and his band all proved themselves assholes, considering the venomous comments against the organizers in the last 2 days. Not to mention that showing up on time, would mean admitting defeat. Not something that 'Victory or Death'-tattood Axl would do. Axl made this bed for himself.
Anyway, I think they're still undecided whether they'll play Leeds or not, so they don't say anything. After the show or no-show, the zealot priests will do their job and brainwash people.
