Re: Reading, United Kingdom - August 27, 2010 (Reading Festival)
Silliness, even they played a rubbish show, sales would went up 4000% odd of "Chinese Democracy"... here in the UK.
One of the biggest festivals in the world and broadcast on TV, but they don't want anyone to see it?
Even the cynics at the BBC would have broadcast several songs.
Mind blowing stupid, they have no ambition whatsoever.
i think u'r a little over ambitious. IF they'd let the show be broadcast it'd be an hours coverage or less on BBC3 & the red button & i would doubt even 1/4 of a million would be watching it & the stream woulda been viewed by a few dozen people. this dispute will garner more attn than a sensible & solid performance would have.
it's not like it was ever gonna be broadcast to millions of people.

Are you suggesting that having the show not be broadcast is better publicity than actually broadcasting it?

Just read on HTGTH they're being booed. At Jungle no less.
Well, I just have one thing to say...
faldor, why the hell isn't this your avatar here???
Good question.
I think I tried to put it up but couldn't figure it out on this site.
It says the file is too big.
Re: Reading, United Kingdom - August 27, 2010 (Reading Festival)
The HTGTH thread is getting good. All the "negative" posts are being deleted like crazy. My favorite one:
"this forum being edited for "contractual" reasons?"
Then it was deleted
Its hard to figure out if the booing rumors are true. I think the curfew was more like 11:30...

Its was a bit of a bummer, she said normally at this time of night we would be bringing you our headliner...
In the backround to where the presenters are sitting you could hear CD
yea it was a drag hearing CD but it was a drag listening 2 those bitchy presenters also. if i were GnR i wouldn't want to do their smartarse indie-centric shite show either. the black guy is a complete idiot & she gets wet over mumford & fucking sons bedwetter music.
"contractual dispute" i think she said..
GN'R deserve all the flak they get from this.
nah they don't. u guys are blowing it out of proportion IMO.
reading isn't all that.
the tv show is an hour long buried on a channel nobody watches.
there's a big indie presence @ this years (& last) festival & i think fri is the traditional indie- themed day @ reading (hard rock/metal headliners usually close the fest on sunday).
there is an overwhelming anti-axl presence in the media/bbc/indie-kid driven british market.
they haven't done themselves any favours of course.
it's just another disaster & wasted opportunity 2 add to the pile but it's not shocking or surprising & it's not the end of the world.
they had a horrible time @ donnington '06 which was a proper hard rock fest/audience & they showed up on time then. so.. some (all??) of it was broadcast on channel 4 i think..
