Re: GnREvolution Movie Madness II - Discussion and Results Thread
I don't think its worthy of being a finalist. The film is definitely below masterpiece territory. It drags in several spots(all the Thurman scenes with the OD being the exception, the Butch- Fabienne scenes)and probably would have benefited from one more trip to the editing room.
It does deserve a lot of the kudos it gets. Early/mid 90s was one of those transitional phases in cinema. No one knew what direction it was going, and out of the blue Tarantino unleashed this unconventional film on the masses.
Yeah I used to fast forward through the whole Butch/Fabienne ordeal back in the day, so I can see your point there. There are some fine points during that sequence though. I never had a problem with any of the Uma Thurman scenes.

^^ It's funny how the "$5 shake" comment is kindof lost now. I bought a Shamrock Shake at McDonalds a few weeks back & thought of that scene. I probably paid $2.50 or more, but if Starbucks sold one it would probably cost $5. When the movie came out $5 for a regular old milkshake did seem pretty high.
James, going back to one of your first posts I fucked up by not nominating. Stand By Me is one of if not my favorite film of all time. Wish it did better one here.
