Re: Who do you want as the opening act?
I agree with Mr. Lofton for once...
M.I.A. would be a real good choice.
Apparently we both didn't get the same memo....
M.I.A. has no chance and nobody wants to see her, but Mix Master Mike and the Suicide Girls are "A-OK".....
I agree with the local bands idea. Have the first opener be local, have a big artist be the 2nd opener.
Re: Who do you want as the opening act?
But I wouldn't see it actually happening.
We are Guns N' Roses fans after all... THERE'S NO TIME OR ROOM FOR REALISM!
Unless you're listening to what I'm saying. I wrote Don't Cry.
Hey, where's that psychic award I was promised by various peasants on the board if the mighty band would actually tour the lands in 2009 A.D. and/or early 2010 A.D.?
A check will be fine.

Re: Who do you want as the opening act?
AIC would be cool but I don't think they would want to do it, and while worldwide they don't have GnR's popularity they can do just fine in North America. Plus, they play better than Guns does.
It probably would be best to get one of those young, semi-respectable but not too defined bands to fill some seats but not steal the show. Shinedown and Buckcherry are good bands with the right mix of mainstream, retro, and rock.
If we're pipe dreaming, Faith No More have been vocal about their struggle to get a tour in North America. Initially they didn't want to, but now they do and they've said they haven't had much interest. Opening for Guns some might be a good start and some easy money, although Patton and Axl's personalities would clash and Patton would probably get kicked off the tour for mocking Guns' fans on stage. He taunts his own fans.
Re: Who do you want as the opening act?
Didn't even think of FNM. Would be a good choice for Guns crowd, but like you already mentioned... Patton could be a problem.
Patton is a headcase... but it's total schtick. There's no way that guy takes himself seriously.
Axl is a headcase... but takes himself seriously.
I don't know, it would depend on how mellow they both are. They'd both have to turn down the volume on their behavior, whether comical or asshole.
