16 I hated Jeter too, esp his first few/several years. And I bought into the Nomar vs Jeter hype. Though I do think Nomar was close for a couple years, but man whatever happened to him? Did he fall off the face of the earth in 03 or something?!  Was he much older than Jeter, I figured they were about the same age.

I guess some people we show "tough love" to, and make them earn it.

Injuries ravaged Garciaparra's career.  He's only played in over 85 games twice since 2004.  He actually had a bounceback year in 2006, in 122 games he batted .303 with 20 HR's and 93 RBI's.  But he hasn't done much of anything since then.

I always thought he was a candidate for Steroid user.  It's tough to say cuz you can pretty much point your finger at anyone.  But he posed for SI back in 2001 and he was jacked.  That kind of came out of nowhere and after that point the injuries just kept on coming.  He had a great run of 6 fantastic seasons out of 7 from 1997-2003, he was injured in 2001.  So he was up there with Jeter for a time, but he just didn't have the longevity.  He came back to Fenway last season and got a huge standing ovation.  He was every Sox fans favorite for those 7 years.  He spoke fondly of his time in Boston, even though it had kind of an ugly ending, and he said how he'd love to come back to Boston to play.  Only problem is, he's just not good enough to warrant bringing him back at this point.  Sox fans, and Nomar, are better off remembering the good times.

I'm soft on the Yankees winning, because I like Girardi...

Yeah, I've always liked Girardi. He seems like a genuinely good dude.
