On all that "Lackey should've stayed in"

Let's keep in mind, it was Lackey who loaded the bases in the first place to get taken out. He was finished. Whether it's him or Darren Oliver... Yanks still clear the bases imo.

Wrong.  John Lackey after 178 pitches is a better option than a fresh Darren Oliver any day of the week and eight times on Sunday.  Darren Oliver is garbage.  I can't believe he's still in the league.  Oh yeah, he's a lefty, that's why.  He's awful, always has been, always will be.  The fact the Angels rely on him so heavily out of the bullpen is astounding and it defies logic they've made it this far with that being the case.

IF they had a viable option to turn to in that situation I'd agree with taking Lackey out.  But to replace him with Oliver is just insanely ridiculous.  It's far different than leaving Burnett out there when you have a legit reliever to turn to in Hughes.

Did I mention, Darren Oliver is trash?

You've got a good point, Oliver has always been a worthless pitcher.

I still believe that Lackey had pitched himself into a bind. It was destined for the Yankees to score at that point... maybe not Oliver's 'near' grand slam give up tho.

Oh I agree Lackey was at the end of his rope.  But all he needed to get was one more out.  I think he could've done that before giving up 6 runs like Oliver and company did.  Plus Lackey easily could've had strike 3 called in that inning for the 3rd out, I forget who was up at the time.  But that pitch could've been called either way.

The Angels bullpen is just not that good.  That's their biggest weakness.  That and their inconsistent fielding.

We can go back & forth with statistics & trends, but it's gonna be settled on the field. This one should be epic. Here's hoping for good weather & good umpiring so may the best team win!

Phillies in 6.  Their lineup has a lot more thump than Angels or Twins.  Pettite struggles against LH hitters as well (RH hitters hit for a higher avg vs him).

So that CC Sabathia versus Cliff Lee debate is really fun to read right now. Especially considering that was in New York against the DH. A-Rod and Texiera were 0 for 8 with like 5 strikeouts. What a performance from Lee.

I maintain my previous prediction about the series, but that was a surprising game 1.

BLS, how's your confidence in the Yanks now?
