Re: Who REALLY wrote Chinese Democracy
Without Paul, there will be no more Guns N' Roses.
Yeah, and five minutes later he said "see ya next summer with a whole bunch of new songs." That next summer he performed even LESS new songs than he did while saying that.
When he makes bold statements onstage like that, be sure to have a salt shaker in hand while standing inside of a salt mine.
Are you willing to credit him as a ghost writer because of ONE sentence from Axl?
If anyone is willing to say Paul wrote November Rain, Don't Cry, and half of AFD, you should go ahead and say Gilby wrote This I Love, Street of Dreams, and Riad.
It's no less absurd.

I took Axl saying that about Paul to mean that he helped fuel and interest him throughout the years. Without Paul, he may just have given up completely with the music business. And speaking of that, somebody should tell Paul to get his ass in gear to inspire Axl once again.

Yeah I realize it was a more personal thing, and he helped him pick up the pieces in the aftermath of the implosion. That is point B in the matter, and some like to insinuate point A was Tobias being a ghost writer in the 87-93 era.
I have never been a fan of revisionist history. There has been tons of info out there for 22 years, and none of it points to a Tobias fueled GNR in the band's prime. Slash doesn't lose songwriting credits or get his legacy altered just because some young fans think he is a "cancer" and "media whore".
I like Tobias, and he clearly played a big role in the 97-01 line ups. Nobody is helping his cause by trying to rewrite his history. His history in the saga is well documented.

I agree...Paul should get his credit for helping Axl through a tough time when the band fell appart, and he was clearly a key figure in the genesis of the Chinese Democracy tracks and saga. Those are important enough roles for him to get some respect.
But trying to pretend he was instrumental in AFD and earlier is absurd.
