Here's one I heard years ago..
A war vet comes home & has intentions of doing nothing first except going to a whorehouse to get some ass. So he goes straight there from the airport and asks how much?
"For $500 you can have any girl you want. For $250 you can look & touch, and for $100 we have a lesbian show you can watch."
"Awww shucks, I only got $50. But I get another paycheck next week & promise to be back."
"Well, tell you what, you seem like a good guy, did service to our country, and since you'll be back here again I'll tell you what. We got a room in the back with a chicken. It ain't much but it'll do"
The vet thinks for a moment in disgust, then says what the heck, he's horny, and promises himself he'll come back next week. So he pays the fee, goes to the back, and does his thing.
The next week, he comes back with $100. He gets into the crowd, and the two lesbos come onstage and start dyking it out. He becomes excited and says to the guy next to him "This is awesome, all for only $100!"
And the guy next to him turns to him and says "Shoot you should have been here last week, there was a guy up there fucking a chicken."

I for one prefer bad jokes although I would agree there is a line that can be crossed. It just depends on the audience really. Like James said, you wouldn't make jokes to those teens families about how dumb their kids were because it in reality is an awful tragedy 
... other people just make it funny
