As far as barking, some friends of mine bought one of those barking collars.

A lot of people are probably against using them, but it worked like a charm.

With biting your supposed to draw her attention away from you by making her toys more appealing, hold the hand shes trying to chew still in a clenched fist and wave a toy with the other. She'll soon learn that toys are much more fun to play with than hands. I think barking is a sign of excess energy, make plenty of time to play with her and use it up. You cant take them long walks when they are still growing cause it can damage their joints, but lots of play is enough.

You should get a good book, I looked on amazon for a book on puppies and got the one with the best feedback, its been a big help and evoryone in the family has been delving into it.

This is the one I got:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Perfect-Puppy-B … 687&sr=8-1

You'll no doubt find a Canadian equivilant.

Re: the puppy thread

Great post by Olorin as usual. The same thing(s) go for barking.

Do NOT use an anti-barking collar...

i'm reading a book called before and after you get your puppy by a Dr Dunbar, its ok, some weird ideas

also i had a bit of a setback yesterday in the housebreaking, after our day trip she had gone ok on the puppy pads, but then it was tough to get her to go outside again....should i offer treats after a pee AND after a poo? or jsut wait till shes all done it all and then give treats?

Re: the puppy thread

You should encourage her WHILE she does it outside so that she understands that what she's doing is good.

In other words both after she pees and after she has had a poop.

Outside = Good!

Inside = Not so good!

But with that said you should never discipline your puppy if it indeed does it inside. That's not the right way to go.

It's basically a baby and you have to see the situation out of that perspective.

Dude she'll be shitting and pissing in the house for a while yet, it doesnt just snap out of them, she'll learn and she'll get much better and then when you relax and least expect it, it'll be..."Oh for fuck sake!!" 17
